Patriots add veteran DT Kitchen

Ishmaa’ily Kitchen

A busy day on the transaction wire for the Patriots included the addition of veteran defensive tackle Ishmaa’ily Kitchen.

Kitchen, 27, played the last three seasons with the Browns and was with the Lions earlier this season. His addition comes after the Patriots had to put 2014 first-round pick Dominique Easley on injured reserve earlier this week. The team also placed starting running back LeGarrette Blount on injured reserve Wednesday.

The Patriots have had success with other players from Kent State, Kitchen’s alma mater. Wide receiver Julian Edelman and starting guard Josh Kline were college teammates of Kitchen.

Kitchen played in 40 games with the Browns before being cut in training camp last summer. He signed with the Lions in October and was with the team for two weeks.
