Kam Chancellor improving, Russell Okung has calf strain

Kam Chancellor missed Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns due to a bruised tailbone suffered a week ago in Baltimore.

However, head coach Pete Carroll said Chancellor was feeling “much better” on Monday and seems to be turning the corner in his recovery.

“I ran into him in the morning when he first got here and he felt a lot better,” Carroll said. “It’s a very, very uncomfortable injury and he made a turn, but how far, I don’t know. We’ll take it day-to-day of course.”

Kelcie McCray started in place of Chancellor against Cleveland and led the team with eight tackles.

The only injury of note to come out of the Browns game was left tackle Russell Okung suffered a calf strain and left the game in the fourth quarter.

Carroll said initially examinations were positive on Monday and the issue doesn’t seem particularly serious.

“He had a pretty good report on some of the diagnostics on it but he does have a sore calf. We’ll see what that means. We don’t have any way to predict that yet.”

Meanwhile, the Seahawks are awaiting the return of Marshawn Lynch from abdominal surgery. Lynch is still away from the team rehabbing on his own and will not be back this week.

Carroll said they still don’t have a timeline on when Lynch will be able to return or if he would even be able to practice at all next week before the regular season finale against the Arizona Cardinals.

“I know each day is a challenge for him,” Carroll said. “He’s working hard and all that. We keep seeing how he can come back, he’ll get back here when he can.
