Vikings at Packers next Sunday night

The 2015 regular season will end with the NFC North championship game.

The NFL has selected Vikings at Packers as the final game on Sunday night. The winner will secure the division title; the loser will be either the No. 5 seed or the No. 6 seed.

If the Seahawks beat the Cardinals and the Packers beat the Vikings, the Vikings and Packers will play in the wild-card round, at Green Bay. If the Seahawks beat the Cardinals and the Vikings beat the Packers, the Seahawks will go to Minnesota and the Packers will go to Washington. If the Cardinals win, the loser of Vikings-Packers will face Washington in the opening round of the postseason.

All other viable flex options had postseason consequences that hinged on other games. Jets at Bills would have been compelling, given that Buffalo coach Rex Ryan could knock out his former team. However, if the Browns upset the Steelers, the Jets-Bills game becomes irrelevant.

Respect has been earned! Congrats Vikings! SKOL!

The Packers bye win against the Vikings could not be coming at a better time.

  3. jakec4 says: Dec 27, 2015 11:11 PM

Seattle, Arizona, and Carolina is all that matters in the NFC. The rest is filler. Don’t get the blurb about Rex Ryan. Who cares about that guy winning a consolation game.

“If the Seahawks beat the Cardinals, the Vikings and Packers will play in the wild-card round, at the stadium of the team that wins next Sunday night.”

Actually, If Seahawks win next week and GB beat MINN, then they repeat in GB in Wildcard weekend. However, if MINN wins then Hawks go to MINN and GB goes to WASH to start the playoffs.

Yikes. We will get to see a slaughter, I guess. Three scores in Minnesota. 4-5 at Lambeau when the Packers seal up the division.

This makes me nervous and excited at the same time…… So much potential, so many outcomes & I just want the best from the Packers and the best from the Vikings to make this a great game….

  7. saxmachine69 says: Dec 27, 2015 11:17 PM

Seahawks cannot end up as the 5th seed if the Vikings win next week

Going to be a great game.

  9. kickinpuppies says: Dec 27, 2015 11:34 PM

Do you know why the NFL wont put a professional football team in Iowa?

Because then Minnesota would want one too.

As a big PACK guy, all I can say is OY VEY! Geez. I’m a big of a fan as their is since 1989 but geeze loise that was a drubbing today. Not looking forward to Mike Zimmer’s defense comeing to town next weekend… Still, GO PACK!!!

  11. oronopackerfan says: Dec 27, 2015 11:42 PM

I think this is wrong. Even if the Seahawks beat the Cardinals, if GB loses to MN they would be 10-6, as would the Seahawks. GB beat SEA and would have the tiebreaker, so GB would be the 5 and go to Washington.

  12. tjacks7 says: Dec 27, 2015 11:49 PM

I said the Packers should forfeit before they were embarrassed by Arizona. I think they should forfeit before they’re embarrassed by the Vikings. Simply a horrible football team with no chance to win again this year.

  13. vikingsmandotdie says: Dec 27, 2015 11:52 PM

Vikings will have all their starters back Teddy is playing lights out football WATCH PACK THE VIKINGS ARE COMING!

  14. vikesfansteve says: Dec 27, 2015 11:54 PM

True Vikings fans acknowledge that Aaron Rodgers owns the Vikes. That’s the next goal. Depending on the outcome of the Seattle/Ariz game would the loser of the Vikings/Packers really be the winner!?

Actually, GB can be no worse than the 5 seed because they beat Seattle head to head. So if Seattle wins and GB loses, Pack still plays Washington, Seattle at Minnesota

  16. atsomepointletspaint says: Dec 28, 2015 12:24 AM

In the scenario of a Seahawks win, only a Minnesota loss would result in a Wild Card week rematch. A Packers loss would give Green Bay the 5th seed and bump Seattle to the 6th, on account of the head-to-head tiebreaker.

  17. shaggytoodle says: Dec 28, 2015 12:25 AM

I am confused to the “Primetime game rule” I thought a team could play no more than 5 Primetime games.

GB played vs. Den Sea (SNF) Det Chi (TNF) and KC (MNF)… That rule must not exist anymore or there is a little bit of wiggle room, becuase th NFL feels they will get extra viewers by people wanting to watch it…. after all anyway you slice it, it has a big impact on who goes where…. why wouldn’t Wash or Sea, fans want to see whom they have to play…..

  18. diggittey says: Dec 28, 2015 1:03 AM

Wow- I get a laugh at GB fans running there flaps about the game this Sunday. Worst 10 win team in recent memory and completely dismantled vs. AZ today. Outside of Rodgers that team is talentless. I see Minnesota winning the NFC NORTH.

  19. kmac6 says: Dec 28, 2015 1:17 AM

Just glad it’s not another nfc east team on snf

  20. jackfactor says: Dec 28, 2015 1:26 AM

    16 degrees at kick off.

Packers will have Shields, Bakhtiari, Raji, Quarless, Bulaga, and Lang back.

Vikes will have full D back healthy.

Lacy and AP will be running.

Teddy and Aaron will be scrambling.

Time to enjoy a great game and the most storied stadium in the NFL.

Cards Fan here. As bad as it looked for GB today, the beauty of the NFL is that each week is a chance to right the ship. The Packers (and A. Rodgers) have not looked like championship material most of this season, but if the Giants last two SB runs have taught me anything, it’s that anyone who gets in has a legitimate shot. It’s what makes the NFL the most interesting of all the major sports: there’s usually no clear-cut wire to wire “best team.”

Sorry to burst your bubble, but they haven’t beaten anyone good, and you’re hearing this from a true Viking Fan who has seen every game this year. If you think i’m wrong, then you are lying to yourselves!!!

    LOST – SAN FRANCISCO (…that’s a Mulligan)
    LOST – DENVER
    LOST – GREEN BAY
    LOST – SEATTLE
    LOST – ARIZONA

They do have my respect, but I would love to see them prove me wrong as well.

    GO VIKINGS!!!

I have been a Packers fan since the day I was born 50 years ago. It has been a long time since I have had zero confidence in this team going in to the game next weekend. You just never know which Packers team is going to show up.

  24. fmc651 says: Dec 28, 2015 10:26 AM

At 6-0 BSPN and other outlets and of course packer fans were talking Super Bowl for the packers. Nobody is talking that today . And for good reason they aren’t good enough. And it is plain to see for anyone watching their games.

  25. golferinminny says: Dec 28, 2015 1:17 PM

Sounds like Florio is saying that nobody cares about seeing the Division Championship in “fly-over” country, but because it’s the only game that will determine anything the NFL was “forced” to flex it. Boohoo East and West Coasts.

My Vikes are going into this final game being a team with momentum, success, confidence, defense at 100%, and playing their best football of the season versus the Cheeseheads who were humiliated, beaten down, and playing horrific football without an effective passing or running game. Based on that, along with A-Rod standing in the pocket like a deer in the headlights just waiting to be sacked, I’d say my team has an excellent chance to win.

==========================================================================UMM, What about the Chiefs? We beat them.. and how many games have they won in a row? 9…Oh yes, the Vikings were the last team to beat them this year!

    …………
Factor in the Referees who will fight their hardest for the Pack, like they always do, especially at Lambeau, it should be a very close game.

You shouldn’t be drinking the Kool-Aid, dear.  Since 2010, the Packers are 10-1 against the Vikings (with one tie) and are undefeated against the Vikes when they’re playing on the Frozen Tundra.
