McCoy, Jackson silent so far on Chip Kelly’s termination

AP

Once the news broke that the Eagles had fired coach Chip Kelly, it made sense to periodically check the Twitter pages of former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy and former Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson. And something nearly as surprising as Kelly’s termination happened.

Neither McCoy nor Jackson have had anything to say.

That will likely change on Wednesday, when they show up for work and the locker room opens to reporters. And even if they each try to say nothing, chances are one of them will say something.

Jackson faced Kelly and the Eagles in Philly over the weekend, and he expressed concern that the fans there booed him for the decision that Kelly made. He made the same decision a year later as to McCoy, and both players remain clearly bitter.

Which means that, regardless of what they say or don’t say on Wednesday, they find Tuesday night’s developments sweet.

  1. Has DeSean Jackson played like an 8 to 10 million dollar receiver this year whether he was on the field or not? No.

LeSean McCoy is the 7th highest paid running back this year and he’s averaging 17th most yards per attempt and missed 3 games.

Clearly those players have talent, but that doesn’t mean their cost was worth it. It is completely understandable to have gotten rid of those players.

And who knows what would have happened had Mark Sanchez not been forced into 3 games, all losses, including two blowouts.

The quarterback situation was his biggest GM blunder, not getting rid of Jackson and McCoy.

  2. Nick Foles would have something to say – please take me back.

Lesean and Desean would have something to say but they may pull a hamstring

  3. Jackson and McCoy don’t need to say a word. Their case has been made for them. Their silence is golden.

I wanna hear from WR1 Riley Cooper.

  4. If the Eagles win big on Sunday it won’t take too much to connect the dots on what’s been going on.

  5. They have jobs. Kelly does not. One of them is in the playoffs. Kelly is not.

If you were a GM and had Shady and DJAX, would you get rid of them for Kiko Alonso. ?? That’s essentially what Kelly did. What an idiot.

  6. “regardless of what they say or don’t say on Wednesday, they find Tuesday night’s developments sweet.”

You don’t know that for sure, so this shouldn’t be reported as a fact in definitive terms. Insert a “most likely” after the word “they” and you’re golden. Journalism has seriously gone down hill…

Anyway, I doubt Jackson or McCoy will say anything about this on their own, but I’m pretty sure reporters will try baiting them into making some controversial comments.

Chip in Tenn for ’16. Sure did wreck a pretty good Philly team in 3 seasons, thanks!

    HTTR!

  7. Chip’s taking his custom smoothies to Tennessee and grinning from ear to ear. Eagles will be a dumpster fire for at least a year with their QB situation and an overrated RB taking up a big chunk of their cap space. If Titans hire Chip they’ll win the pathetic AFC South next season. BOOK IT!

Yah… but he signed Byron Maxwell, who behind Brandon Browner, has been one of the worst top cover corners in the league.

  9. Goodbye, Mr. Chips, for betting badly with Mr. Lurie’s chips. Lurie is one of the least meddlesome owners but even he couldn’t ignore that Mr. Chips wasn’t playing with a full deck. Mr. Chips will go down in Eagle history for most worst free-agent signings – Maxwell, Murray, Kiko, and his Oregon player fetish. Mr. Bradford, you’re next.

I would have to look at the most recent stat sheets, but he’s the starting RB on a team that I believe literally has the best rushing attack in the NFL.

I would say he’s pretty good.

  11. These guys are not playing this weekend, who the heck wants to blow a knee out or bust an Achilles for nothing!! Not me, I would want to have a nice vacation in the Bahamas with my millions. Not sit in recovery or rehab, just sayin, these guys are paid already.
    GO JETS😎👍

  12. As a Redskins fan, I could care little or nothing about Chip Kelly leaving. I do thank him for letting DeSean Jackson go. DeSean has been nothing but a class act in DC as well as a really good football player.

Maybe it’s a small payback for whoever the bonehead was in the Redskins front office that traded two picks for McNabb.

  13. People that care about this crapola need to get a life.

Should Chip have laughed every week when MeSean didn’t play because of a “soft tissue” problem? Hey…MeSean, want one of my “smoothies?” How’s the Hammy?

“Shady” was the same way…both good players. I happen to think De-Jag is actually a much better player than he is credited for…he’s just a Jag.

Neither player leaving was actually that big a deal.

  14. It’s funny to hear how a player who helped accumulate 1300 yards in offense at his best and was a great decoy at his worst in Philly was no longer needed. Philly fans stop making excuses. Kelly tore apart a competitive offense. This same Diva made your defense look like trash every time he’s played against you.
