Tom Brady hobbles away after press conference

The bad news for the Patriots is that the road to the Super Bowl may go through Denver. The worse news could be that quarterback Tom Brady has a hitch in his giddyup.

Michael Hurley of CBS Boston has posted video of Brady hobbling away from the podium after his post-game press conference in Miami. Brady quickly ducks behind a black curtain, making it impossible to assess whether and to what extent he has a full-blown limp.

Brady injured his right ankle on a low hit from Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Brady remained in the game after having the ankle re-taped.

He’ll have two weeks to recover, but the status of the ankle will definitely be a major question mark for the Patriots — especially since the Patriots aren’t in the habit of sharing anything more than the bare bones of the injury report.

A little sore, not a big deal. Having the bye is the important thing.

Get well soon, Tom! Rejoice in the knowledge that the Ravens, Colts, Jets, and Bills are all already trying on their ugly golf pants for the offseason. They thought they could dethrone the champ, hilarious.

  3. taintedsaints2009 says: Jan 3, 2016 5:25 PM

I called this game. I actually called Brady getting injured by Suh too because the pats offensive line is horrendous. Pats better hope they can get some guys healthy because they won’t get to the AFC Champ game with the offense they put out today. If healthy, the Patriots will win the superbowl…but that is a big IF

What’s amazing is that he didn’t cry like a little girl after the hit and beg the refs for a flag. Are we sure that was really Tom Brady?

  13. skunksprayjim says: Jan 3, 2016 5:31 PM

Never should have played today. What was the point of having him in there to hand the ball off 18 times in a row and throw 5 times in a half. The Pats clearly played out the string caring little about winning and just hoping noone else gets hurt which makes playing Brady at all make little to no sense.

The AFC is wide open. Denver fans shouldn’t get too excited, Broncos are on pace for 10 turnovers today.

  18. mrmcdougle says: Jan 3, 2016 5:34 PM

He’s fine, just a little drama with the limp. The bigger issue is that the Patriots look like an average football team. This is not the time you want to look that way. Seeding helps, thanks to their early season run. But they look very very average going into the playoffs.

Hmmm – Karma for Deflategate? Didn’t the Pats win Super Bowl 49 after that? Also, 12-4 and the 2 seed this season is not awful considering the real karma after DG is how all the teams “leading the charge” for that atrocity ended up – Indy, Baltimore, Dallas/J Jones, etc.

How many star players does Suh get to injure with cheap shots?

As for the deflategate karma, the Patriots won that last year after beating beating the deflategate co-conspirators (Indy and Ravens) that invented it, going on to beat the defending champion Seahawks, and then seeing Goodell hand the Lombardi to Kraft and the lying commish having to watch Brady being handed the super bowl MVP. That was not just karma, but also poetic justice. Whatever the Patriots do this year is just a cherry on top.

Belichick makes mistakes but, on a practical basis, less and less catastrophic ones than other coaches and GMs. If today’s game plan was to get healthy, why expose the one guy you have to have to win to so many hits? Why play that makes falling behind more likely, allowing the other team to come hard at your QB? Why not throw early and run Jackson late?

But you’re way off on the tuck game as far as pay back … the Pats’ got screwed in the ’76 title game against the Raiders with the infamous phantom roughing the passer call on Ray Hamilton that cost them the game, same year the Pats beat the Raiders 48-17. He may have, but his “help” didn’t:) That didn’t happen till he was indicted, and of course the Steelers have 0 playoff wins since then, including a very embarrassing playoff annhiliation by one Tim Tebow:)

Guys like James HGHarrison quickly regressed back to the JAGs they always were before Rydze, and most interesting of all, a lot of the Steeler injuries persisted for longer and longer periods of time. A typical sign of an aging team that does not have HGH anymore to speed things along.

So you see… he certainly was a factor:)

  79. STILLlolatpatshaters says: Jan 3, 2016 6:37 PM

    Oh no question about it.

I happen to be one of those Pats fans that love thinking that Brady really did fumble and was only saved by a technicality in the tuck rule. To beat THAT team in THAT way…the payback for the ref screwjob in 76 couldn’t have been scripted any better than it played out.
    :)

  80. TheWizard says: Jan 3, 2016 6:37 PM

Why play that makes falling behind more likely, allowing the other team to come hard at your QB?

That was a bizarre offensive strategy. I noticed it last week and they carried it over. I’m not a big believer in being able to flip a switch, but that seems to be what they’re going with this year.

It seemed like preseason where they don’t want to show anything.

  81. feadshipman says: Jan 3, 2016 6:37 PM

Brady looked “spent” early in this game. I think the last few weeks of getting clobbered regularly, game in and game out, are having a cumulative negative effect on his psyche. He did not look like he had any enthusiasm whatsoever for this game.

I know it’s easier for you all to claim Suh was dirty on that play instead of owning up to one of your own players being responsible for Brady getting hurt. God forbid ANY Pat player did something wrong.

Absolutely asinine to have Brady in the game when it was clear from the start the patriots were treating the game like a preseason workout for Steven Jackson. Jimmy G couldn’t turn around and hand off 15 times in a row? Two weeks in a row the patriots offense was atrocious. Not bad, stinking garbage atrocious. There’s no way this team as it has been playing the last six weeks does anything in the playoffs. Meanwhile on a side note, as I type this the Alleged HGH user has stepped in and led the Broncos to 10 straight points. My one question is why hasn’t this been mentioned at all(the allegations) while deflategate was brought up at every possible opportunity when it broke. The media’s bias is quite stunning.

well, nofactsman, at least you are consistently incorrect. King is a Jersey (Montclair) guy who was a beat reporter of the Giants for years in the mid to late 1980s. He moved to Boston for a couple of years (2012-2013?) to try to elevate his cultural and sports heritage but moved back to either New Jersey or New York.

He’s a Red Sox fan, not a Patriots fan. He was born in Springfield, MA. I don’t know how how long he stayed there but do know he went to school in Ohio and worked in Cincy before moving to Jersey and working for Newsday.

Suh’s play was on the dirty side but not the worst I have seen from him. Brady manned it out well enough and I think he will be fine.

The Pays played soft today. They looked from the get go like a team that was simply assuming the win would happen for them. That’s their bad, they will gave to own that. I can imagine the film session is going to be a rough ride.

The offensive line just may be their undoing this year. Even when all the weapons come back there still needs to be better blocking. There was no run game nor pass protection. And also the Oline doesn’t have so many guys returning like the other areas. Most of their losses were for the season. As the playoffs progress the opponents will get tougher and what they had today will not stand up and I think what they gave coming back does not equal the amount of improvement they need there.

Most of you will be lucky if you could run a mile, hold a job or bathe yourselves without an apparatus.

I really just cant stomach people who come on a public forum and use the anonymity of the internet to make such spineless comments. Get a job, get a life, get laid, get a clue, do something ANYTHING besides being an internet critic.

We all know if you met Brady face to face none of you would say any of this to him, so why come on here under a screen name and do it???

The GOAT QB’s toughness is very underrated.

Unlike other QBs *cough*Ben*cough* you will never EVER hear him use injuries as an excuse for losing. You will never see him pose with injuries for the camera or try to get sympathy for injuries. Nor will you ever hear him blame other players even if they really are to blame. He takes full responsibility as any true leader would.

Brady with High Ankle Sprain – Not Worried !!!

I am a PATRIOT Fan that is extremely disappointed with Kraft for not having an EMERGENCY meeting with the entire staff and executing a Plan to reinforce the OLine and find players ( either FA or on practice squads ) that could of helped this Team be stronger and ready for the Playoffs.

Once they lost to the Eagles and the injuries continued the “Writing was on the Wall’.

I know you are pro-Gray. If the Patriots felt he was a fit on the team he would have been brought back. The fact they didn’t speaks volumes.

There really is little downside to signing a guy like S-Jax. A 5 game rental that can add at least some of what they lost with Blount at a cheap price. And perhaps more, as Blount was not having a great season.

  142. solo681 says: Jan 3, 2016 10:31 PM

I hope Kraft is paying attention to the lost opportunity and careless approach the coaching staff have towards replacing& strengthening the OLine for what could of been another SB run.

Brady’s career is almost over and you can consider it OVER if they do not go ‘ALL OUT’ in a getting a STRONGER and more DOMINANT OLine, this offseason.
