Dolphins announce Chris Grier is new General Manager

The Dolphins didn’t take long to name a new General Manager.

Chris Grier has officially been hired as G.M., the team announced today.

The news of Grier’s hiring comes just two days after the Dolphins announced they had fired former G.M. Dennis Hickey. So rather than having a long and detailed coaching search, the Dolphins knew from the outset that Grier was the person they wanted to promote from within.

Grier previously served as the Dolphins’ director of college scouting.

Now the question is who will coach the players Grier acquires. The Dolphins have just begun their coaching search, which will be led by executive V.P. of football operations Mike Tannenbaum.

The look on his face says it all. Good luck, Dolphins fans.

While they were smart enough not to embarrass themselves with another “GM” search, this hire means nothing because the “GM” in Miami does not have final say over the roster: Tannenbaum does. And considering that he did last year as well, get ready for more poor personnel decisions. If it wasn’t for the Browns, we would be the biggest joke in the league.

After 20 years in the NFL Glad Chris Grier is finally getting his shot.

This was the guy that scouted all that great college talent the Fins have so successfully drafted.

I fully expect the Fins to make Dawn Aponte their new Strength Coach.

Stevie Wonder Ross still at it.

I would think it probably won’t be Shanahan – assume he wants final say in things. Maybe I’m wrong…Since they already interviewed him and are setting up 2nd. Shanahan seems like best days are behind him.

I suggest the musician Stevie Wonder becomes the new Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins!

I can imagine him yelling at his players….get your routes right and follow the game plan!!

There. Now the Dolphins are a drama-free, excellence-driven, well-owned and operated pro football organisation.

the last several coaches,Cam Cameron,Dick Saban,Tony i love me some FG’s Sparaano,Regis Philbin & campbell all had one thing in common…No Head Coaching experieince so you have to believe they will hire a retread or someone with experience

I think Shanahan will be okay with just coaching and not having control of the personnel side of things. Shanahan has to realize that he hasn’t been so good with the personnel stuff in the past and he was at his best when someone else was pulling the trigger on the hires and fires.

    They wanted a Tannehill guy

Charley Casserly just said that Chris Grier was an excellent hire by the Miami Dolphins.

Did the Dolphins go through the Rooney process before this hire?!?

Guess division foes Boston Patriots, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets can breathe a sigh of relief…

See, Rooney rule NOT needed, the best Q’d candidate as far as the team was concerned was hired! Best of luck sir.

When did the GM position change from a business manager who was responsible for the coaching staff, salary cap, personnel, and scouting to essentially a chief of scouting? We’re seeing way too many scouts being elevated to GM and those teams are not having much success with rebuilding.

How about you guys give him a chance to do the job, after all I don’t see any of you guys running a pro team with all of your expertise on football. Bill

Casserly said this guy was one of the best up and comers in the business. Interviewed him in the past. However unless this guy had an awesome track record that Ireland & Hickey ignored… I can’t say the Fins Org drafted very well over the years.

  19. cafinfan says: Jan 4, 2016 3:30 PM

This is bad. How long has Grier been with the Dolphins……that’s right…..just about as long as they’ve been at best medioccur. This is just a sign of knee jerk reaction. Ross needed to blow the whole thing up and start from scratch. Call in a Football guru to help guide the process & go from there. All Grier knows is bad & medioccur Dolphins football. So what will we get out of him?!?!?! I hope you all enjoy the same old thing…….

    In name only, unfortunately.
