McCoy will be back even if Chargers secure ticket to L.A.

It’s now clear that Chargers coach Mike McCoy will be staying in San Diego. A question still lingered as to whether he’d be accompanying the team to L.A.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, McCoy will be coaching the team no matter where it is in 2016. Which means that, if/when the Chargers secure at least 24 votes to relocate, McCoy will be making the move as well.

Heading to L.A. with a coach that led the team to a 4-12 record in 2015 may not be the best way to connect with a new fan base, especially if the Chargers could be competing with another team in their new market.

And maybe that’s the biggest takeaway from the news that McCoy will stay. Opting not to make a coaching change could mean that the Chargers already know that, if they move to L.A. for 2016, they will be moving there alone.

He’s actually not a bad coach. He got absolutely butchered by injuries this year, but at the same time some coaching modifications will be helpful.

I mean these last 2 years he revived Rivers’ career. His football IQ shouldn’t be questioned.

    The real McCoy. 4-12.

Magic Johnson, The Buss Family, Steve Balmer. Winners who actually face the fans and media.

The Spanos family will be a joke in LA. They will not get away with this garbage up there. They are lucky to have loyal fans in SD despite their downfalls of running a football team/business.

Can you survive with Raider trash in LA?

Congrats to the Broncos, Chiefs, & Raiders organizations.

Last place in the division in the AFC West has been locked up with the retention of Mike McCoy as head coach, and the Chargers have effectively been eliminated, as of today, from the 2016 playoffs.

    2015 – 4-12

    2016 – 4-12 Book it.

McCoy wasn’t exactly the loner radon Rivers played so well that 1st season. I’d like to give Ken Wiz credit as well as the additions of Keenan and Woodhead.

If the Chargers were the healthiest team in the NFL they still weren’t winning more than 8 games max. Need DL and OL help big time.

    Poor LA fans.

Why do the Chargers ALWAYS get a pass. Rivers played like crap yesterday. He’s so overrated in this league, I would argue he’s the most overrated IN the league. And McCoy? How is McCoy still employed?

All 3 of the L.A. Charger fans are excited at this move.

……it NEVER works out when a HC fires his support staff……McCoy is on a VERY short lease and will probably be fired by 2016 mid-season. I also hope EVERY TEAM that’s doing a mad rush into the LA market FAIL !!! Los Angles is a great city but they won’t support losers. By 2019 the Chargers will be in St. Louis and the Raiders in San Antonio……

The Spanos family is too cheap to fire McCoy and Telesco, even though 4-12 with a HOF caliber QB certainly warrants it. The Pats were more injured than SD, it’s not an excuse! Winning culture > losing culture, it starts at the top.
