When center Kory Lichtensteiger went on injured reserve with the designation to return after Week Nine, it seemed like there was a pretty good chance that the return part of the transaction would go by the wayside since the 3-5 Redskins would need to make the playoffs for him to be eligible to get back on the field.

As you’re likely aware, the Redskins are in the playoffs and Lichtensteiger is back on the roster for Sunday’s game against the Packers. The team announced that Lichtensteiger has been activated on Tuesday afternoon with Brian de la Puente getting dropped from the roster to make room.

Lichtensteiger started all five games he played before heading to injured reserve. Josh LeRibeus took over once he hurt his neck, leaving the team with a decision to make about who will man the pivot come Sunday.

The Redskins also formally announced the signing of cornerback Cary Williams. Safety Kyshoen Jarrett has been placed on injured reserve after suffering nerve damage in his right arm in Week 17.
