The staffs of the Cowboys and Jaguars will coach at this year’s Senior Bowl, the top postseason all-star game for draft-eligible prospects.

The announcement was made on Sirius NFL Radio by the game’s executive director, Phil Savage, a longtime exec with the Ravens and former general manager of the Browns.

The Jaguars will coach one of the teams in Mobile, Ala., for the third straight year. The Senior Bowl teams go through three days of NFL-style practices that are attended by almost every NFL general manager, head coach and scout.

Senior Bowl coaching staffs are selected by the NFL and generally come from teams that rank high in the draft order and did not go through coaching staff changes.

This year’s Senior Bowl practices start Jan. 26. The Senior Bowl game is on Jan. 30.

Gus Bradley probably has more Senior Bowl wins than NFL wins.

That is 3 out of 3 for Gus Bradley as HC. Feet not to be proud of.

Feel bad about the players who are going to be coached by the Cowboy’s coaches. I’m sure their stock in the draft will go down.

Coach em up! (clap clap clap)

And just remember, kids: your head coach don’t mean squat – the suits upstairs know it all!

Devon Johnson of Marshall University should be in this game. That RB was electric.

I used to think there was an advantage to coaching the Senior Bowl, But considering every Coach, Scout and GM will watch every practice and every play of the game.. I’m not so sure anymore.. Unless they close practices.. it’s just extra labor for the coaching staffs. which now that I think about it, Jason Garrett should have to work alittle more for his check this year.

“Senior Bowl coaching staffs are selected by the NFL and generally come from teams that rank high in the draft order ”

So much more tactful than saying, “Senior Bowl coaching staffs are selected by the NFL and generally come from teams that suck.”

Cowboys staff? Seriously. What’s the pre-requisite?

Jags have coached our best OL (Linder), LB ( Telvin Smoth) and nickel corner (Aaron Colvin) from senior bowl. Hey have also said they have used it to eliminate players on their radar. (Also Nick Marshall)

And for those hating on the Jags- the talent gap is closing. Jags ownership admitted the roster was terrible and has done a great job replacing the crap roster from 3 years ago.
It takes time and stability and the owner has giving the GM and Coach 4 years to fix it. 2016 will be telling- but they look like they are almost contenders for playoffs. Just fix that horrid defense now.

So expect a game, at least on Garrett’s side, of a very predictable, vanilla, game plan or deciding to throw the ball on both 2nd and 3rd and 1 from the 1, even though the team is averaging 7 ypc. Maybe he will even freeze his own kicker. One thing for sure, if his team is up by 24 points, the opposing team, with their 3rd string QB out of Cal Tech, will come back and win the game. Jones will then come to the realization that the guy can’t coach and will fire him on the spot.

Somebody needs to tell Gus we want Super Bowls….not Senior Bowls.
