The Lions and Titans are both in the market for a new General Manager right now, which could lead to some overlap as they conduct their searches.

The Titans found at least one candidate that the Lions are going to pass on considering for the job, however. The team announced that they interviewed Martin Mayhew on Wednesday, a conversation that comes a couple of months after his firing created the opening in Detroit.

Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, board member Kenneth Adams IV and team president Steve Underwood headed the group that met with Mayhew on Wednesday.

Mayhew held the General Manager job with the Lions from the 2008 departure of Matt Millen through November of last year. The Lions made the playoffs twice during Mayhew’s tenure, but had a losing record in all of the other seasons that he was in the job.

The Titans have also reportedly requested interviews with Jaguars exec Chris Polian and Buccaneers exec Jon Robinson this week.
