Dolphins sign German Football League MVP Tyler Davis

The Dolphins are doing their best to leave no stone unturned as they line up interviews in their search for a new head coach and the same appears to be true of their efforts to add players to the offseason roster.

The team announced that they have signed wide receiver Tyler Davis to a futures contract that will give him a place on their 90-man offseason roster. Such moves are made all the time at this point in the year, but this one is a bit more notable because of the last place that Davis played ball.

Davis is the reigning German Football League MVP after catching 94 receptions for 1,733 yards and 24 touchdowns as a member of the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes last season. Davis also played defensive back and snagged six interceptions during his second year of football in Germany.

Davis played defensive back while in college at NAIA Missouri Valley before making the move to the other side of the Atlantic.

For a second I thought he was a soccer player because in Europe they call “soccer” football!

certainly can’t hurt….based on numbers alone he was obviously the cream of the crop over there, who knows how it will translate but cant fault em for trying

Cameron Wake was found in CFL after being cut by Giants.

Sometimes these players turn out great.

I think we have enough GOOD WR’s for next year!!! Why don’t you IDIOTS work on getting us an O line, LB, & DB help!!! Ross just sell this team you & your management is killing this once GREAT franchise!!!

I am all for it. Get some hungry, humble players that want to play. We need to get rid of a few that don’t.

Not that big of a stretch to think he could make a roster and have an impact. And on the plus side it’s really a low risk signing.

Even if he doesn’t make it as a starting WR or DB maybe he finds a home on special teams and gives them some depth in sub packages as a DB.

The worst thing that happens is he takes a spot on the 90 man roster from another guy that isn’t likely to make the final roster either.

They signed him to play DB.

He could run faster, but the German league rules mandated goose stepping down the field.

Laugh all you want but James Harrison, Kurt Warner, Adam Vinitieri, Refrigerator Perry, Dante Hall and Jon Kitna all came from the Europe. I don’t even need to mention the CFL had a few gems like Cameron Wake. These guys have skill, experience and most important are hungry and cheap!

Rotoworld has him listed as a CB/WR. Tony Lippett has that same background. If this guy can play as well as him. They should realize that Jamar Taylor is a failure and move on.
