The Dolphins confirmed that interim coach Dan Campbell got his chance to interview for the team’s head coaching position Friday.

The Dolphins have been busy interviewing outside candidates this week but promised Campbell he’d get a chance to state his case. The Dolphins went 5-7 with Campbell as interim coach.

Campbell first joined the Dolphins as a coaching intern in 2010 after an 11-year playing career. He then became the team’s tight ends coach before taking over in 2015 following the early-season firing of Joe Philbin.

Next up on the Dolphins’ interview docket is Doug Marrone, who interviewed with the Browns on Thursday. The Dolphins, 49ers and Browns will interview Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson on Sunday in Cincinnati.

The Dolphins have also interviewed Anthony Lynn, Mike Shanahan, Teryl Austin, Mike Smith and Adam Gase.
