Jadeveon Clowney questionable for Texans vs. Chiefs

Of the 53 players on the Texans’ active roster, 52 of them are virtually certain to be healthy enough to play tomorrow against the Chiefs.

Only one player, Jadeveon Clowney, is listed as questionable on the Texans’ final injury report. Clowney has been hobbled by a foot injury, the latest in a string of injuries that have hampered the promising but so far unproductive first overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

The Texans listed 18 other players on their injury report, but all of them were listed as probable. That means the Texans are listing them more as a precaution than because there’s any chance of any of them missing the game because of injury.

Houston does have one major injury concern, with starting left tackle Duane Brown on injured reserve after suffering a torn quadriceps in the regular season finale on Sunday. But when it comes to the players still on the active roster, the Texans are a healthy team.

  34. nflpoker says: Jan 8, 2016 4:17 PM

I can appreciate why some would say that you can’t call someone a bust because of injuries, when you should base it one performance, play, etc.. However, if he is not making very many contributions to the success of the team, regardless if it is due to INJURY(S) or his play, the evaluation of him being a bust or not must be made. He has had MULTIPLE injuries. What contributions has he really made??? When I see his name in a headline, I can’t help but think “now what?”

    He’s a bust. What a waste of a pick.

  35. painsyndicate says: Jan 8, 2016 4:18 PM

Sorry, the Houston Texans select Jadeveon Clowney.

no loss there, the next scrub off the bench is just as good

  41. tonyzendejas says: Jan 8, 2016 4:32 PM

A single impressive bowl game tackle catapulted this guy to the #1 pick. Astounding.

  42. djaehne says: Jan 8, 2016 4:37 PM

  43. 23rdusernameused says: Jan 8, 2016 4:39 PM

    Clowney – Career questionable

  44. jimbo75025 says: Jan 8, 2016 4:40 PM

Dude already has a guaranteed 4 year contract (Texans would be fools to pick up the 5th year).

Expect another lame 2016 from him and then a monster 2017 as he will be playing for a new contract. Hayneworth 2.0

  45. pftfan says: Jan 8, 2016 4:41 PM

It’s a good thing they drafted Clowney over the guy who got voted All-Pro at TWO positions.

  46. jtm12180 says: Jan 8, 2016 4:41 PM

When will you mongoloids finally learn the difference between bust & injury prone?!

  47. jjackwagon says: Jan 8, 2016 4:53 PM

Nothing questionable about the way he disappears for big games.

    Jesus this poor bastard

  49. stexan says: Jan 8, 2016 5:02 PM

Lay off the guy already. He just wants to be sure he’s healthy for OTAs

  50. All-American Voltron says: Jan 8, 2016 5:15 PM

Does that mean questionable to play, or questionable as a #1 overall pick?

  51. cliffordt says: Jan 8, 2016 5:24 PM

Two fast 40 times, one striking oft-televised play as a college Junior, and he goes first overall.

    El Busto.

  52. nfliferfan22 says: Jan 8, 2016 5:35 PM

If he had the heart and wanted to play football he could be great but he doesn’t. Any of the idiots on here think it’s a lack of talent or ability are morons.. It has nothing to do with his skill. It’s all about his work ethic you utter morons..

  53. dualprime says: Jan 8, 2016 5:36 PM

THIS should cost Rick Smith his job. Blaming this kid for being #1 overall doesn’t make sense. He didn’t pick himself. The GM did!

  54. abninf says: Jan 8, 2016 6:07 PM

He needs his own separate permanent injury report. He’s a walking human injury report.

  55. 8to80texansblog says: Jan 8, 2016 6:24 PM

Imagine if the Texans had taken Khalil Mack or Aaron Donald….

That said. Anyone who actually watches this kid play can see he’s very good. He plays the run very well and has just recently gotten into the flow in the pass rush.

I’d still take Mack over him in a heartbeat though.

  56. gr365 says: Jan 8, 2016 6:40 PM

    What a bust!!!!

  57. badmoonrison says: Jan 8, 2016 6:41 PM

Somewhere Kalil Mack and the Raiders Scouts are laughing their behinds off. Kalil had 15 sacks this year. How many did Glass Joe here have?

  58. bigbamboom1 says: Jan 8, 2016 6:43 PM

BEWARE OF COMBINE STATS. Combine “FREAKS” usually=NFL “BUSTS”. Exhibit #1 CLOWNEY!

  59. codiablo says: Jan 8, 2016 7:04 PM

Mario Williams is available – just sayin…

  60. icanspeel says: Jan 8, 2016 7:43 PM

Obviously looks like a bad pick now, but I feel you can’t label someone a bust until they finish their rookie contract.

  61. bpacha76 says: Jan 8, 2016 7:54 PM

NO FREAKING WAY THIS GUYS AN IRON MAN HE NEVER MISSES A GAME!!!!! Seriously as Gomer Pyle would’ve said …. SUPRISE SUPRISE!!! This guys is quickly becoming the “Glass Joe” of the Texans. They have a qb issue as in they don’t have one!!! They could’ve had Bridgewater or Carr (oops no they couldn’t. I forgot they “couldn’t” draft Carr cuz his brother WAS RUINED by Dom capers and the Texans) BOTH are better than anything the Texans have but they just had to have this OVERRATED clown JADEVEON CLOWNEY!! Anytime he starts playing well he’s hurt again and that’s it

  62. bobsnygiants says: Jan 8, 2016 7:57 PM

    He is always hurt.

  63. bradygirl12 says: Jan 8, 2016 8:09 PM

They should just write his name in indelible ink on the injury report since he’s on it every week. Bust!

  64. nomoreseasontix says: Jan 8, 2016 8:13 PM

    Who would have guessed that?
This guy is a lazy bust. You can tell by the lack of definition in his arms, which would come from a ton of work. Work that he doesn’t do.
Lazy POS that will suddenly be a beast in his contract year.
I’m glad we got Mack. He’s the real article.

  65. talkingheadsknowall says: Jan 9, 2016 12:35 AM

In Texas, Darren McFragile wonders if Clowney has a lisfranc injury, says “Nah, he’s faking it”
