MRI on DeMarcus Ware’s knee comes back clean

The Broncos don’t have a game to play this weekend and it looks like they’ll have linebacker DeMarcus Ware on the field when they do play in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Ware has been bothered by a knee injury he suffered in the second half of the team’s Week 17 victory over the Chargers and had an MRI this week to determine the extent of the issue. Ware didn’t delve into details about his knee on Friday, but said that the test didn’t turn up anything that would prevent him from playing next weekend.

Ware, cornerback Chris Harris linebacker Brandon Marshall and safeties T.J. Ward and Darian Stewart were all out of practice Friday.

“We have a lot of guys banged up. We would have had a hard time playing this week,” defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said, via the Denver Post.

Quarterback Brock Osweiler was also out of practice and is expected to sit out on Saturday as well because of a knee sprain. As of now, the team still expects him to serve as Peyton Manning’s backup when they return to action.
