Sean Payton will remain the Saints’ head coach in 2016, but a couple of members of his staff are leaving for other jobs.

Ball State University announced Thursday that Mike Neu will leave his job as the Saints’ quarterbacks coach to become their head coach. Neu started 38 games at quarterback for Ball State from 1990 to 1993 and was named the Mid-American Conference MVP and offensive player of the year in 1993. He coached in the Arena League and at Tulane before moving to the Saints in 2014.

“Mike is a tremendous coach, person and family man. In a place like college football where it is as important to mold the lives of young men as it is to win football games, he is the perfect man for the job,” Saints quarterback Drew Brees said in a statement from the school.

There will also be a new secondary coach in New Orleans with Wesley McGriff leaving to become the secondary coach and co-defensive coordinator at Auburn. McGriff was on the Saints’ staff for the last three seasons.
