Texans pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney is at today’s game against the Chiefs, despite a pregame report that he got upset about being deactivated and left.

Two different reporters for ESPN described Clowney as upset with coach Bill O’Brien for deactivating him. Both reporters said Clowney left the stadium after he got word today that he wouldn’t play.

However, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported that Clowney had no reason to be upset today because he found out on Wednesday that he wouldn’t be playing. McClain also reports that Clowney left the stadium not because he was upset, but because he was taking tickets to his family.

That report could get the Texans in hot water with the league office: If the Texans have known since Wednesday that Clowney was out for today’s game, the league may inquire with the Texans about why they declared him as questionable on their Friday injury report. Once a player has been ruled out, he’s supposed to be listed as out.

It’s also unclear why Clowney would have to leave the stadium today to give playoff tickets to his family. One would think the Texans would set things up so that players’ families had a more convenient way to get their tickets than having the players themselves leave the stadium before a game to hand-deliver the tickets.

In any event, multiple reporters spotted Clowney at the stadium before kickoff. He’s there, just not in uniform.
