Steelers lead at halftime, 6-0

Cincinnati Bengals v Pittsburgh Steelers Getty Images

The Steelers take a 6-0 lead over the Bengals into halftime.

The defenses have dominated. The scoring has come via two Chris Boswell field goals.

It rained for much of the second quarter. The Steelers got their first points after an Antwon Blake interception of an underthrown pass and drove before halftime but had to settle for another field goal.

The Bengals had 11 yards in the second quarter. A.J. McCarron is 7-of-14 for 59 yards.

Steelers running back Fitzgerald Toussaint has 38 rushing yards and 43 receiving yards. Ben Roethlisberger is 11-of-20 for 119 yards.

Bengals Pro Bowl safety Reggie Nelson suffered an ankle injury and will not return. Shawn Williams replaced him.

The Bengals get the ball to begin the second half.

I can see why Hue Jackson would be such an in demand HC candidate with those two first downs, 56 yards, and zero points through two quarters of a playoff game.

The Bungals have 57 total yards and 2 1st downs, with only 11 yards in the 2nd qtr.

    1991.😦

Guess you have to play flag football with wide receivers now what a joke call that was.

Hue will be free to take that 49ers job at 11:30 as I predicted. Bungles are and always will be a joke.

Two very crappy football games today.

Cowher is a homer tonight. He’s not usually this bad. Maybe it’s Boomer’s precence.

This game is awful so far.

Could not agree more. Wheaton was clearly lowering and bracing for the hit…..and yes, this is coming from a Steelers fan. Complete crap call….

It’s not 2007. Of course, I agree with you – but there is no chance that’s not getting called in 2016.

How can you have any faith in the Bengals given their propensity to absolutely collapse in big games the last several years. I’m frankly surprised it’s this close. If Dalton were the QB it would already be over. In the playoffs I’d rather have Pee Wee Herman at QB than Dalton.

2 top DB’s for Cincy hurt, Pittsburgh needs to get aggressive in 2nd half. If Tomlin/Haley think 2-3 FG’s are going to win it they are out of their mind. 1 turnover is all it takes to get Cincy some momentum. Roethlisberger needs to step it up and take this game over. Absolutely no reason for them not to win this game vs that Cincy offense.

I guarantee Cincy will make some adjustments at halftime.

Worst ‘defenseless’ receiver call I’ve ever seen… Possession, 2 steps, has time to put his head down (which is the only reason for any contact to the head because he would have hit him in the chest otherwise). Bengals playing 11 vs 18 tonight as usual against the Steelers.

    Horrible football games.

    Playoffs?

If this were Week 9, I’d be raking leaves instead of watching this crap.

Here we go again. The hypocrisy of people whining about more penalties while also complaining about the NFL not doing enough to protect players.

  17. connormyboy says: Jan 9, 2016 10:04 PM

The playoffs curse continues for the Bengals. Do everyone a favor miss the playoffs next season.

  18. dolphins4 says: Jan 9, 2016 10:06 PM

The Steelers have this game. It’s just like the Steelers right tackle said the Bungals always choke in the playoffs. Same old Bungals.

  19. 4sacroc says: Jan 9, 2016 10:09 PM

The NFL is putting out garbage.

  20. styro1 says: Jan 9, 2016 10:10 PM

Looks like another 1 and done for the Bungals! What will that be 5 in a row and 7th since 2005? Talk about futility.

  21. taintedsaints2009 says: Jan 9, 2016 10:10 PM

I would root for the bengals but I hate that they have adam jones on that team. Every single time I see the guy after a play directed his way, he looks like he is threatening somebody. Horrible horrible human being.

When is the last time Big Ben has stepped up and played well in a playoff game? Been a loooong time…

  24. suhmonster90 says: Jan 9, 2016 10:13 PM

I don’t see any public outcry to protect players, only people trying to protect the tradition of a game they grew up enjoying.

  25. nflgtcfl says: Jan 9, 2016 10:14 PM

I find I am liking this game more then the HOU/KC game I turned off at the half.

THERE ARE DOZENS OF US 🙂

PIT has pretty much dominated and had the breaks.

    Yet, they only lead 9-0.

    That should terrify PIT fans.

  28. mjd08501 says: Jan 9, 2016 10:18 PM

Marvin Lewis has got to go if the Bengals lose again right? Soon to be 0-7 in the playoffs? He’s taken them as far as he can.

  29. ohand16 says: Jan 9, 2016 10:19 PM

My god the Bengals suck! Marvin should be fired by morning.

  30. coltcountrysteelerfan says: Jan 9, 2016 10:20 PM

C-Strange, Ben really only tossed 1 bad pass…luckily it wasn’t picked. He had a solid first half against a top defense still during some pretty heavy rain. Call him small Ben big game all you want but I’ll take his play to is point.

To the others, please stop complaining about the defenseless receiver call. That was a run of the mill penalty and seen it tons since they got concerned about concussions. I have seen a way more horrible calls on that as a Steeler fan. Can’t remember who the Steeler was but it happened against the Giants. The guy put his shoulder clearly in the chest and got flagged for it.
