Dan Campbell leaving the Dolphins after not getting top job

Perhaps new Dolphins head coach Adam Gase isn’t a big fan of the Oklahoma drill.

But whatever the reason, the man who brought it back to Miami isn’t hanging around to run it any more.

According to Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post, former interim coach Dan Campbell is leaving the Dolphins after interviewing but not getting the full-time job.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said Saturday at Gase’s introduction that he wanted to keep Campbell in the organization, but Campbell apparently had other ideas.

He injected a bit of life into the Dolphins after replacing Joe Philbin this season, running high-contact drills in practice and jumping around like his hair was on fire. But it lasted about two weeks, making his prospects for keeping the job slim.
