Steelers say Burfict and another Bengal spat on them

Two Steelers offensive linemen say Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict’s hit to Antonio Brown’s head wasn’t Burfict’s only dirty work on Saturday.

Steelers offensive lineman David DeCastro said Burfict spat on him during the game, and fellow offensive lineman Ramon Foster backed up that claim while also saying that another Bengal joined in.

He wasn’t the only guy,” Foster said of Burfict on 93.7 The Fan. “I will say that he had another culprit out there with him.”

Foster said the Bengals went way beyond what’s normally seen on an NFL field.

“It’s uncommon,” Foster said. “And I think it’s a huge deal. Spitting on somebody is a huge offense. You take that as a sign of major disrespect. I don’t care what venue you’re in – basketball, football, hockey, or you’re at your neighborhood bar – spitting on somebody is unacceptable.”

The NFL said nothing about spitting in its announcement of Burfict’s three-game suspension, which presumably means the league wasn’t aware of the allegations at the time it suspended him. If it finds video evidence of Burfict or another Bengal spitting on Steelers players, that could result in further league discipline.
