Bill Belichick gets a little salty over Chandler Jones questions

nbc105-9-15-98-snl

As you might imagine, Patriots coach Bill Belichick was in no mood to discuss defensive end Chandler Jones and his unusual week this morning.

Jones made headlines by walking into a police station and ending up in the hospital, because of a reaction to what was reportedly synthetic marijuana.

Belichick opened his press conference by deferring to the team’s initial statement on the matter (which really didn’t say anything) and insisted the health and safety of his players was his first priority.

But it got really interesting when he was asked whether the situation would change the way he used Jones this week against the Chiefs.

We’ll find out Saturday,” he said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. “I could just Xerox you a copy of game-plan and you can send it over to Kansas City.”

At least he didn’t offer to SnapFace it.

While Belichick can duck and defer all he wants, Jones will remain a story, because of his importance to the team and the curious nature of the story.

And making copies with the Billster isn’t going to change that.

Unlike other coaches who dance around and keep answering the same question the same way wasting everyone’s time it’s standard procedure for Bill to say he’s not going to answer, period. It’s the foolish writer who thinks THEY are the one to get the Master to speak. Now, the Jones story IS interesting and it will all play out in house and not in the media. The media will do what they always do. Speculate and turn that speculation into unproven fact.

I’d be salty too, this story has already been in the news longer than ‘ol Five Head’s interesting predicament.

HIPAA keeping Jones’ medical situation private = cover up.

HIPAA protecting why Five Head’s wife had HGH shipped to her home = totally legit

The guy OD’ed and sought assistance at a Police Station and Hospital. No Dr. in the country would suggest a person go to work the next day after they OD’ed the night before.

The fact the Pats are just ignoring the situation is quite telling. Just like Hernandez, it wasn’t until he was cuffed and in jail before the Pats even reacted. Apparently they need Jones to be unconscious or his life in danger before they actually do something.

    What a pathetic organization.

it’s good to know you have all the facts on what Jones consumed, the amount he consumed, that you polled every doctor in the country on whether they would suggest someone going to work for someone that OD’d the night before, or that team doctors even made that suggestion.

By the way, wouldn’t “the night before” be defined as Sunday night?

  35. wensink18 says: Jan 14, 2016 10:36 AM

This is good news for all Pats haters. This is what you’ve been waiting for. Remember how after the “spygate” foolishness, you said that was the reason the Pats were winning so much? But then they won 18 straight afterward – without those all important films. Remember how after the “deflategate” frame-up, you all clamored that was the true reason the Pats won all those games and also rarely fumbled? But then the Pats won the SB , rattled off 10 straight wins this year secured another bye in the playoffs and are favored to win the SB again. But now you know…the reason why the Patriots have been so dominant in the last 15 years is because Chandler Jones smoked weed last Sunday and Belichick had a shiner!!! It was so obvious all along but it took you sleuths to shine some light on it … So, nicely done, knowledgeable football people. You have solved the mystery!

    @folkcrusader – Jones didn’t “OD”

And @chadsmith013 – “Some reporter” didn’t say he made anything up. A pharmacist involved with sending HGH to Manning’s house shared that info via a hidden camera and then retracted it because he might be in a boat load of trouble. Even Manning hasn’t denied HGH was sent to his address.

Jones wasn’t arrested, was released by the hospital, and showed up for practice. The team allowed him to practice. If it is synthetic marijuana, it’s not on the banned list, so I don’t believe there can be any league consequences. The law says medical info can’t be released. The only people that think there’s a big story here are haters and ‘inquiring minds’ who like to keep up with the Kardasians. Maybe Sheard starts instead. So what. Jones has been battling injuries all year.

He’s right. Anything he says to answer that question fills in game plan gaps for KC. If he says no change to how they use him, then winds up benching him for a half, he’d be ripped for lying. If he says he’s benching him for a half, then follows through, KC has had a few days to game plan around him not being in the game. Sure, KC doesn’t know whether he’s lying or telling the truth, but why even go there? His answer was perfect to a stupid reporter question.

As an aside: Why is synthetic legal, but regular, god made, lovely marijuana illegal in most states?

I know the answer, but the hypocrisy of our stupid political leaders talking out of their mouths on one side, why taking hand-outs from drug companies is pathetic and old.

Legalize it (not synthetic, as it is dumb and dangerous), at a national level and get on with it.

Jones is stupid putting his team in an awkward situation. Granted that what he did is not illegal and more than likely will not be punished by the NFL but he still acted selfishly. He is a distraction when the team should be focused on preparing for this critical game. Good thing he has common sense to seek help and did not harm anybody. BB is doing what he must for his team and for Jones. Maybe he will be compassionate with Jones but he is known not to coddle his players. But he will exclude the media out of this. They ask dumb questions which in their dumbness do not realize that they’re dumb. More than likely they are still wondering why BB told them that he could Xerox them a copy of the game plan.
    Oh… Haters are still losers.
