New Giants coach Ben McAdoo is replacing a two-time Super Bowl winner, but he says he won’t be in his predecessor and former boss’s shadow.
Asked about the pressures of succeeding Tom Coughlin, McAdoo said at his introductory press conference that he’s not concerned about that.
“The most important thing, when we talked about leadership, is you’ve got to be yourself -- everybody else is already taken, including Tom. So I can’t worry about being in Tom’s shadow. I’ve got to be comfortable in my own skin, and I am that,” McAdoo said.
But while McAdoo may not be in Coughlin’s shadow, he is closely following in Coughlin’s footsteps. He’s expected to keep the coaching staff largely intact, and with the front office staying in place, there are likely to be no personnel changes. The Giants are going to be more or less the same team in 2016 as they were in 2015, except without Tom Coughlin.
