The Steelers have been dealing with injuries to their starting quarterback, starting running back and best receiver this week and they’ve announced that two of the three won’t be playing against the Broncos on Sunday afternoon.
Wide receiver Antonio Brown was ruled out early in the day on Friday because of a concussion and running back DeAngelo Williams has now been scratched as well. Williams missed last weekend’s win with an injured foot and was never given much of a chance to play this week.
That leaves quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as the only member of the trio with a chance to play this weekend and the team has listed him as questionable. Roethlisberger rested his injured right shoulder for most of the week, which limited his practice activity to handing the ball off for the most part. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports that he threw the ball briefly on Friday, however.
Roethlisberger’s history and his return to last week’s game after hurting the shoulder suggest that he’ll play. Without Brown and Williams available, the Steelers will need him to play at a high level if they’re going to extend their season for another week.
