Jeremy Maclin will try to play, but may not be able to go

Johnathan Joseph, Jeremy Maclin AP

Chiefs receiver Jeremy Maclin wants to play today at New England, but he won’t know until pregame warmups whether he can go.

Jeff Darlington ‏of NFL Network reports that it will be an uphill battle for Maclin, who is still iffy and needs to test his ankle today.

It’s possible the Chiefs would activate Maclin as a decoy, in the hopes that his presence can open things up elsewhere on the field.

If the Chiefs have to play without Maclin, it would be a big loss. During the regular season he led the team with 87 catches for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns; no other wide receiver on the roster even had half that production in any statistical category.

Load the box stop the run. Alex can’t throw.

I think the Chiefs are winning whether he plays or not.

He can play or can’t play, doesn’t matter. Give Seattle the championship right now. Begin the off-season, these other teams need to catch up!

KC better hope they can live up to that talk they’ve been talking all week..

New England is looking healthy to go on both sides, and that spells trouble if The Chiefs don’t have Maclin.

Wait, wait… ReligionIsForIdiots is a Seattle fan? What does he actually think of Russell Wilson?

Feel sorry for him…but not the team. This year, the Patriots have been the NFL’s most injured team. Even with the guys expected back today, they are far from full strength. good teams find a way to overcome the injuries….but now that the playoffs are here….you have to pull all the stops. If you a a little banged up, you have to play. It comes down to; Are you able to help your team or will your presence be a deterrent to your team. I expect a good game, and a Patriot victory.

Belichick is such a dope. He would never catch on.

Yeah, Seattle really set the world on fire last week. Let’s just hand them the trophy. Haha. Clown.

Huge Chiefs fan and a big Pats fan. Wanted to see Brady win it all so POS Goodell would be forced to hand him the hardware. This is a coin flip game as far as I am concerned. Chiefs are rolling right now. Houston and Hali are the key more so than Maclin. If those guys can get to Brady Chiefs win. If not Chiefs lose.

  11. titletownie72 says: Jan 16, 2016 9:57 AM

Chiefs offense won’t be able to put up any points without him. Prob not much with him either. KC defense better have a historical game or this one won’t be close…

Man…the cheifs fans are really talking a lot of crap all over the internet. Better back it up with a good showing tonight!

Patriots don’t run their mouths for a reason

As a Patriots fan, yesterday was the first day I reached the conclusion that the Patriots are in a lot of trouble. It’s the Gronk injury combined with the Chandler Jones problem.

I think the Patriots need both Edelman and Gronkowski to be healthy to take heat off of Brady. If Jones were just out, I wouldn’t care, but this is a distraction. I hope I’m wrong, but the Chiefs may not need a healthy Maclin to come into Foxboro and knock off the Pats. Just awful the way the Patriots have gotten banged up this year.

Chiefs are playing with house money. They have nothing to lose. The franchise as a whole, fans, players, management, etc. have already managed to meet expectations with just a playoff win. Anything extra is just more icing on the cake. Expectations will grow next year, 22 years of playoff futility, we’ll take this for now… Love that the opinion of the media, favortism based on market size, is squarely on choosing the Pats to win. Chiefs suck, Alex Smith sucks, Defense is overrated, Doesn’t matter if Maclin is healthy, Chiefs haven’t beat anyone with a winning record, can’t stop Brady, Can’t stop Gronk, and on and on.

    House money!

  18. jbaxt says: Jan 16, 2016 10:52 AM

“I” before “E” for those who didn’t make through 3rd grade… Spelling Chiefs is hard… Now I know why “y’all” call them the “Pats”.

How’d that work out LAST year???

They lucked out a win last week, and you want to hand them the trophy?

By the way, most Patriots fans know better than to run their mouths BEFORE a game, We’ve been beat by good Ravens, Jets, and Giants teams, we know anything is possible.

We know that both defenses are a pretty even match, and Brady’s offense is way better than Smith’s – even with a dinged up Edelman and Gronkowski, and an “iffy” line – and we know that KC hasn’t played many good teams, but they’re a solid team, and anything could happen.

We save the smack talk for AFTER the game, if it’s a “W”.

Should be a good game tonight!

I get it, when Pats win it’s all Brady, but when they lose it’s because they are the most injured team in the league. I thought Brady can make anyone look good? It’s not the system or the great coaching it’s the one man that throws 2 yard passes and his PLAYMAKERS make plays with the ball, not him. Every team is injured right now and not make excuses except Pats fans. There is always a reason something doesn’t go the Pats way. It’s annoying, stop it and be real for once.

  21. goodellsucks43 says: Jan 16, 2016 10:59 AM

    Patriots 24, Chiefs 20

Chiefs put up a good effort, but don’t have enough firepower on offense without Maclin

  22. chuckxx says: Jan 16, 2016 11:14 AM

When you honestly look at all their injuries (Maclin, Morse, J. Charles, DeAnthony Thomas, Houston and many others) its a true miracle that they even made it this far. Gotta give Andy Reid full credit for being a heck of a coach. I wonder if Jeff Lurie is sometimes sorry that he let him get away.

I’m calling BS on you. The Patriots have lost more players to injury by games than any other team. Tom Brady can make chicken salad out of chicken poop, but that offensive line is worse than chicken poop right now and an unhealthy Gronk/Edelman/Lewis take away his short options. No Patriot fan ever posted that football was not a team game. There is no quarterback I would rather see behind center in any big game than Tom Brady, but even he has only won 4 Super Bowls in 14 full seasons. You need some help.

And just who has been doing all that talking??? I haven’t heard of any Chiefs talking smack.

Although have heard and read all the typical, obnoxious talk from Pats fans like yourself

His should be a close defensive battle. As a Pats fan, I want to have faith that the game plan will call for a much more aggressive style, but worried about the Chiefs D and Pats banged up and young O-line plus the health of Gronk and Edelman. At the end of the day, I don’t think the Pats will be able to move the ball well. Sigh. Chiefs win 20-17. Hope I’m wrong.

  27. quinzze says: Jan 16, 2016 11:52 AM

Pats D will be to much for the overrated KC C… Gronk and Edelman are fine and Brady will slice up that D … Pats roll 35-13.

    Not only.

Just most man-games lost this year. And still finished 12-4 with a first round bye.

  33. pats777 says: Jan 16, 2016 1:51 PM

Decoy? It’s hard enough beating the Pats with 11 players on the field, go ahead and try it with only 10.

  34. proudchowdahead13 says: Jan 16, 2016 2:09 PM

At this point of the season, all teams have injuries. Play the game with who’s available, and let the better team win.
