Knile Davis fumble sets up Gronk’s second touchdown

The Patriots are pouring it on.

Chiefs running back Knile Davis fumbled early in the third quarter, handing the ball to the Patriots and setting up a surgical drive in which Tom Brady marched the team down the field, ending with a touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski.

It was Gronk’s second touchdown catch of the game and the eighth postseason touchdown catch of his career, the most postseason touchdowns for any tight end in NFL history.

It also may have been the last nail in the Chiefs’ coffin. Although there’s still plenty of time left in the third quarter, the Patriots’ 21-6 lead is starting to feel insurmountable. The Chiefs just don’t seem to have an answer for Brady and Gronk.

  1. The Pats are going through that Chiefs defense like a hot knife through butter. Brady is the man, like it or not.

The Chiefs are stuck with a popgun offense and a big deficit, not good. Alex Smith and his 3 yards per attempt aren’t going to cut it.

Andy Reid isn’t much better than Marvin Lewis, he tightens right up in the playoffs and chokes just like his teams do.

  2. Even the NFL playoffs are quickly becoming monotonous, mundane and extremely boring…. Same teams every year just swapping turns with the Super Bowl… GREAT BIG YAWN! BORING!!!

Maybe someone should beat those teams, then.

  4. And the Chiefs are the biggest threat to the Pats in the AFC too. Id say a trip to Santa Clara is all but ready to be booked after this. But it is still the NFL playoffs so anything can happen.

  5. That vaunted Chiefs offense is really tearing things up.I hope the Eagles keep Pat Shurmur as offensive coordinator or they’re in trouble.

    Andy Reid is a loser

    Alex Smith is a loser

The Kansas City Chiefs are losers.

Those ‘losers’ are playing while 24 other teams are not. Which team that isn’t do you root for?

  7. When New England wins they cheat, they lose they suck. Great logic from fans of terrible teams.

I was hoping the Chiefs would beat the cheater Pats. But Andy Reid has had a vanilla offense his ENTIRE coaching career. Alex Smith is a bottom 15 QB. Those are facts man. Maybe the losers can stop dropping catches.

……Name 15 QBs better than Alex Smith. You can’t, and I’m not an Alex Smith nor Chiefs fan. Stay seated at the kids table, adults are talking.

  10. 15 QBs better than Alex Smith… 1. Tom Brady 2. Andy Dalton 3. Joe Flacco 4. Big Ben 5. Andrew Luck 6. Philip Rivers 7. Peyton Manning 8. Eli Manning 9. Tony Romo 10. Aaron Rodgers 11. Jay Cutler 12. Cam Newton 13. Matt Ryan 14. Russell Wilson 15. Carson Palmer… Just off the top of my head. I can argue that Bortles, Winston, Bridgewater, Stafford, Tannehill are all better or the same caliber as Alex Smith. Smith has had a good year and the Chiefs have been good but they are just outclassed today and to think Alex is a top 15 QB is just ridiculous. And I’m not a Pats fan.

That was easy to list. See, Alex smith is bottom 15

  12. Every time I turn around a look at an offensive drive by KC all I see is Alex Smith holding back an otherwise good team. It’s time to relegate Smith to a Backup QB and find a more capable successor. A Plain Jane offense and a very limited QB is not a recipe for success against the Patriots.

  13. @key2heat Agreed. This was just responding to @jonevan511 earlier. I think you are more hard pressed to list 15 QBs worse than Alex Smith.

You are very right sir. I am not a chiefs hater but that has to be the most anemic offense in the NFL. Alex Smith has been a dink and dunker his entire career. I really wanted the Chiefs to win. Within 5 minutes of the 1st quarter is was reminded they peak at 20 point per game.

Boston fans are rapidly approaching Philly fans in terms of obnoxiousness.

Boston is just a small portion of New England. The rest of us outside of Boston thank you for your compliment.

Just read this exact post on another Patriots article. Do you think you’ve come up with something clever, then cut and paste to all Pat’s articles? I think it’s past your bedtime kiddo.
