Randall Cobb carted off, done for game

AP

Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb was carted to the locker room between the first and second quarters of Saturday night’s game in Arizona.

Cobb was apparently injured while making an acrobatic catch on a deep ball late in the first quarter. The play was negated due to offsetting penalties.

The team initially said Cobb was being evaluated for a chest injury and his return was questionable. In the second quarter, it was announced that he’s done for the night.

The Cardinals led, 7-0, after one quarter.

  1. This is getting brutal. We have our 1, 2, 4, 5 WRs out. Remaining we have a guy the Giants waived in James Jones, Abbredaris who is concussion prone and Jeff Janis who cannot run a route.

  2. Certainly the perennial (13 time!!) world champs, with a record of 10-2-1 in their last 13 Super Bowls that their fans constantly post about, can beat the cardinals!!

  3. It used to be that the Cheese Packers were a competent team – now all they have is for that fake QB to be given yardage he never can get by passing on a regular passing play – now the Cheese Head has to resort to trickery to get a free play – the NFL needs to take this garbage away – penalties like that should be immediate stoppage of game and a 5 yard penalty and Aaron Rodgers can assume his mediocrity in his old age.

This game is being called in favor of the Cheese Packers – it is a disgusting game.

  4. Fraudgers is the biggest check down QB in the history of the league. This guy cannot thread the needle! Glorified game manager is the best way to define him.

  5. @tjacks7 Really? Is this your first year watching football? Because Aaron Rodgers is one of the best, all time, at throwing passes into unbelievably small passing windows. Sure, he’s had a down year. But let’s not get crazy

  6. Refs are also missing a ton of Green Bay holds. Close game but I get the feeling Cardinals roll in the second half.

  7. Distance of Rodgers average pass? 3.14 yards. Palmers? 5.6.. Palmer is the highest in the league while Rodgers is in the mid to low 20s.

You can’t argue with Rodgers results. He definitely knows how to pad stats and predict the ball. But the vast majority of his throws are little to no risk screens or check downs. And not just this year.

Damn straight. Next man up. Keep watching.

  9. Green Bay is playing with garbage wideouts and still in game. AZ most likely prevails but they won’t win next week.

  10. This game is going very badly for the Cards . I just think that GB is somehow going to pull the upset . The Pack are playing loose and easy and I just don’t know if the Cards can handle it .

  11. Good, it’s called karma for the refs screwing another team that plays the butt packers. Should be 14-3 at best, but no, miracously a defense picks Rodgers off and returns it 100 yards for a TD and out of nowhere a flag gets thrown. However they failed to throw a flag against Baktari or whatever his stupid name is on the same play when he took the Arizona defender to the ground because he got beat like a red head step child.

If there can ever be a game against the Black Rhinos where the other team doesn’t get screwed at least once, it would be a modern day miracle. Home field advantage means absolutely nothing when you play the golden child team of the league.

  12. The Packers got this game. Arizona doesn’t know what to do. The Packers D is coming up big. Lets see if they can hold and the Packers O can liven up a little.

Tjacks, maybe if you were kicking last week you purple paper champs would be playing this weekend

I doubt it. While I once kicked an 8 pound bowling ball for a strike I can never get any good distance with a football. I would’ve missed one of this earlier kicks Walsh drilled for sure.

  14. Tjacks, you mad bro? You’re all over these stories talking smack about a two time MVP who is light years better than your guy. You just sound ignorant.

  15. @packman52 can’t you enjoy your cheating team and leave the Vikings out of this thread for ONCE ! I know how you Pacurs are obsessed with all things Purple but let it go, we lost ok that game is over . Enjoy your own team leave the Vikes out of it

  16. Battling the best team in the NFC with a skeleton crew of receivers in the divisional round, and still hanging tough, generates more pride in the fans than wasting a division crown on a team of losers. Nobody was surprised the Vikings blew it. 41-0? Favre? 0-4 Super Bowls? Anderson? Walsh?

    Wouldn’t you agree?

  17. Considering the injury factor with the WRs that are missing right now (Janis had more catches in the 1st half than he had all season), the Packers are putting up a pretty good fight.

The purple trolls are really grasping at straws to try to insult Green Bay tonight. I can’t decide if tjacks, cody, and ariani are more like Larry, Curly & Moe or Larry, Darryl, and Darryl.

  18. Tjacks, since the Vikings are done , haven’t you moved on to the Timberwolves yet ? Or wild ? Nothing to watch there either , enjoy the pack then

  19. Did you see the Viking fan at the game holding the sign that said “I bought this ticket before the kick”.?

Viking fans are always good for laughs. Shanks for being you.

  20. Cobb probably has a lung/rib injury, based on his (apparently) coughing up blood on the sideline.

    Also, amazing catch.

  21. 16 completions. All on screens, check downs and otherwise short throws. Not saying Rodgers isn’t elite. He’s an elite game manager, stat padder:

    1. A.Rodgers pass short middle to R.Rodgers to GB 31 for 5 yards
    2. A.Rodgers pass short middle to J.Starks to GB 8 for 3 yards
    3. A.Rodgers pass short left to J.Starks to GB 47 for 6 yards
    4. A.Rodgers pass short right to J.Abbrederis pushed ob at ARZ 40 for 14 yards
    5. A.Rodgers pass short right to J.Starks pushed ob at ARZ 41 for -1 yards
    6. A.Rodgers pass short left to J.Abbrederis to ARZ 24 for 17 yards
    7. A.Rodgers pass short middle to J.Janis to ARZ 18 for 11 yards
    8. A.Rodgers pass short right to J.Kuhn to GB 18 for 6 yards
    9. A.Rodgers pass short right to R.Rodgers ran ob at GB 29 for 11 yards
    10. A.Rodgers pass short left to J.Abbrederis pushed ob at GB 41 for 6 yards
    11. A.Rodgers pass short middle to E.Lacy to GB 46 for 4 yards
    12. A.Rodgers pass short middle to J.Abbrederis to ARZ 36 for 18 yards (J.Powers).
    13. A.Rodgers pass short right to J.Janis to ARZ 30 for 6 yards
    14. A.Rodgers pass short right to J.Janis to ARZ 24 for 6 yards
    15. A.Rodgers pass short right to J.Janis pushed ob at ARZ 12 for 13 yards
    16. A.Rodgers pass short right to J.Starks to ARZ 16 for -4 yards

  22. What a great game. Not sure if Arizona is choking under all the pressure of EVERYONE picking them to kill GB tonight, or GB came to play…. And that defense is putting together one of the best playoff performances in a while…..

Be interesting to see how this plays out

  23. Cobb was “done” when Jordy Nelson went down. Don’t recall any receiver being so dependent on his fellow receiver.
