The Texans have hired Larry Izzo as their special teams coach.

Izzo won three Super Bowl rings as a player with the Patriots, where he was voted a special teams captain nine times. He comes to the Texans from the Giants, where he’d been assistant special teams coach since 2011.

It’s a homecoming for Izzo, who played college football at Rice.

Izzo had 275 special teams tackles and was voted to the Pro Bowl three times during his 14-year playing career.

What, no mention of the time that Larry Izzo went for two and got a game ball afterwards?

No matter how much the Texas want to be the Patriots they won’t be. Without Belichick and Brady you are still the Texas which isn’t great. Sorry.

Sorry Guy (I use that term losely) auto correct tried to fix my post. Even auto correct doesn’t recognize the Texans as an entity. That’s funny.

Belichick gave Izzo a gave ball for pooping on the sidelines during a game. I have no clue how he did that, but thats a football he deserves.

Izzo was a buzzsaw on ST, playmaker, excellent teammate.

Favorite Izzo story. Jimmy Kohnson is reviewing first preseason game film with Dolphins players. Johnson tells them no one has made the team. A couple of Dan ,Marino coming legions end in a stalled drive and a punt. Izzo blows up a wedge and makes a tackle for a loss. Jimmy Johnson says, “only two guys have made this team: Dan Marino and Larry Izzo!

    Great story!

They should just start calling them “Lil Patriots”

The Texans don’t want to BE the Patriots. The do want to build a good program like the Patriots. Not a bad model to build from!

Great team player with heart and a burning desire to be the best he could be moving on to the next phase of his career. Good luck to him and hope he can bring the same fire and desire to his special teams until.
