Broncos take lead after Toussaint fumble

There were no turnovers in Sunday’s game between the Broncos and Steelers until the fourth quarter, but one may be all it takes to swing the game in the Broncos’ favor.

Steelers running back Fitzgerald Toussaint lost the ball in Broncos territory on a hit by cornerback Bradley Roby and DeMarcus Ware recovered with the Broncos down by a point. The Broncos then put together their most impressive drive of the day as they went 64 yards on 12 plays before C.J. Anderson plunged into the end zone from a yard out. A two-point conversion pass to Demaryius Thomas was good, leaving the Broncos up 20-13 with three minutes left to play.

The biggest play on the drive came when Manning hit Bennie Fowler for 31 yards on a third-and-12. It was only the second third-down conversion of the day for the Broncos and it came on what was likely Manning’s best throw of the day.

Now it’s up to Ben Roethlisberger to lead his team back or we’ll get another round of Manning vs. Brady in Denver next Sunday.

  1. Pittsburgh’s Defensive game plan is ridiculous…their DBs are 5-7 yards off the receivers allowing them a release and Manning to throw his wobbly 8 yard passes…he cannot throw the deep ball…they should be in the receiver’s faces forcing the action and daring Manning to throw deep

  2. Steelers are done….stick a fork in us……we have only ourselves to blame as usual…..Good Game Denver:)

    Steeler killers.

  4. This is playoff football. If you make a mistake you will lose. Chiefs had the same problem yesterday.

  5. The World Champs will take care of PEDton next week.

In the meantime… still 0 legit titles for the Steelers without cheating or the refs help.

May that streak be alive for a long time!

    🙂

  6. The steelers do not know how to put teams away. They out played the broncos except on the score board.

  7. Straight up, Pats will beat Denver. However, everyone knows the boys in stripes will have chatter in their ear all night from the league wanting HGH boy to win one for the gipper on his way out of the league for the golden family.

  8. Since when are QB’s allowed to go into a full slide to avoid pressure, get back up and then throw a pass? Unbelievable.

  9. Well called game by the officials, absolutely no complaints about the officiating.

Good luck to Denver next week against New England.

No excuses as to why we lost, the one turnover in the game cost us because Denver capitalized on it.

Nice to see how the two teams shake hands and the Steelers’ congratulate the Broncos.

  10. Pats fans nervous now that their team has to leave the safe confines of Gillette

Go Broncos! #1 Defense against a NE team that is 3-4 the last 7 games

  11. No way Steelers were gonna win today after they got physically manhandled and beat up by the Bengals last week.

Vontaze Burfict should get the Player of the Game for DESTROYING antonio brown.

    wait what???

according to Pac-Man AB was faking his concussion.

  13. One thing for sure Ben out played Manning that really did not win the game. Great effort for the 30th rank defense against Manning. Took a turnover, was fun to watch, Brady will have a field day if Ben got 300 hundred yards against the number 1 defense.

  14. Wow the hatred is amazing. Not reading anything by congratulatory comments from Steelers fans to the Broncos.

Time for the haters to grow up and leave mama’s basement.

Manning gives himself up, then stands up and throws a pass and you think there were no complaints about the officiating?

  16. The Steelers sent in a collection of amputees to Denver and played the Broncos toe to toe, with a Steeler turnover really being the game changer.

Toussaint, you blew it. Your team had the lead and the ball and you coughed it up. It’s on you.

Steelers, you brought a bucket of guts, because all of your other body parts were injured, and played one helluva a playoff game on the road. Well done. Men of Steel.

Peyton Manning, only your swelled ego is keeping you in the game, and the Denver brass is forced to play you because if they lose and you are on the bench, they’ll have to answer hard questions about why you weren’t in, even though, they are better without you.

  17. now i have to decide who to root for in next week’s game….Denver or the Pats…..that’s a tough one…both classy QB’s and classy teams:)

  18. As a Steelers fan it was a great play by Denver to bust the ball loose and then Manning to lead the drive for the td. Congrats to Denver on a well played game. Nice to see a good clean game.

  19. I see Grandpa Jimmy (Harrison) had a chat with PEDton at midfield.

Were they chatting about their buddy Sly?

    🙂

  20. Vontaze sez, “Bwahahahahahahaha, Goodell’s boss’ Art Rooney (and Florio’s favorite team) lost!!!

  21. The rule is written that way and it was not challengeable.

I am a Steelers’ fan, and wondered the same thing, but that play didn’t change the tone of the game. It was up to the defense to to make the stops and they couldn’t do it on the touchdown drive.

Way to show your class nurserustbelt!

  23. Current curses:
    1. Steelers can’t beat the Ravens
    2. Steelers are a Mile High Mess.
    Enjoy the high draft picks!

  24. The Steelers had absolutely NO business being in the playoffs.

They fumbled – literally- and ball don’t lie folks.

    🙂

  25. Steelers and old man Rooney are gone. Another victim of karma and deflate gate. Rooney was one of the owners involved with pushing roger to continue with a losing hand against tb12 and patriots along with the rest of the co conspirators Jets, Colts, Ravens, gisnts, and Cowboys. To all, enjoy the rest of the playoffs from your couch.

  26. Good game Steelers. Tons of heart playing through injuries with backups.
Denver has already beat NE this year. They’ll do it again with that D.
    Peyton in the Super Bowl!

  27. Was rooting for Pittsburgh bc of Tomlin but can’t have a player like that who absolutely cause you a game changing outcome. Just like AP of the Vikings. Need to get rid of players like that. Lame!

  28. Root for the number 1 seed. With NE’s poor OL, the 3 teams remaining, EACH have a pass rush that can pressure Brady.

No more NE free passes, starting with having to travel to Denver to get to the big dance. It’s sickening how annually NE is the only legit team that gets a pass each year to the playoffs by not having to play in a division with competition.

Congrats to Pittsburg for making it a game!

Go Broncos, and then Go NFC no matter whose in the big dance, as AFC is WEAK!

Dear god, please tell me you’re not a grown man and actually typed this up.

  30. With their youth and experience the steelers will be on of the super bowl pre season favorites. Barring major injuries of course. Ravens and Bengals a non factor. We have a great running corp, best receivers in the league. We have it all. You all want to be like us.

  31. Steelers, shouldn’t have been in the playoffs in the first place. The football Gods interviened and invoked justice.

  32. For all you fans crying about missing players because of injuries, just remember all teams deal with the same issue. In 2010 the Packers topped the NFL with the most players on the IR and still won the Superbowl over a healthy Steeler team. Its about coaching and depth when the injuries hit.

  33. Bye bye Steelers fans, season over, no more soup for you!!! I love the whining. “We gave it to them”. Like the RB just handed him the ball why is no one talking about that fraud Ben. No one said his heroic he was because he wasn’t friggin hurt!!! Didn’t work pumpkin head. Obviously, though his head is freakishly fat, it isn’t filled with a brain.

  34. It’s a real shame to see so many running backs fumble the ball when they try to get too fancy. Like Peterson last week, this guy was trying to make a cutback for probably an extra half yard.
