There were no turnovers in Sunday’s game between the Broncos and Steelers until the fourth quarter, but one may be all it takes to swing the game in the Broncos’ favor.
Steelers running back Fitzgerald Toussaint lost the ball in Broncos territory on a hit by cornerback Bradley Roby and DeMarcus Ware recovered with the Broncos down by a point. The Broncos then put together their most impressive drive of the day as they went 64 yards on 12 plays before C.J. Anderson plunged into the end zone from a yard out. A two-point conversion pass to Demaryius Thomas was good, leaving the Broncos up 20-13 with three minutes left to play.
The biggest play on the drive came when Manning hit Bennie Fowler for 31 yards on a third-and-12. It was only the second third-down conversion of the day for the Broncos and it came on what was likely Manning’s best throw of the day.
Now it’s up to Ben Roethlisberger to lead his team back or we’ll get another round of Manning vs. Brady in Denver next Sunday.
