Seahawks score two quick touchdowns to make it interesting

If the Panthers have had a problem this year (and it’s only a problem because they keep building big leads), it’s remembering to keep their foot on the gas in the second half.

And now with a spot in the NFC Championship Game on the line, the Seahawks are trying to take advantage.

A pair of quick Russell Wilson touchdown passes have cut the Carolina lead to 31-14 midway through the third quarter, giving the visitors a bit of a pulse.

Carolina has grown thin in the secondary with injuries, and Wilson has found those spots.

The Panthers have been prone to letting teams crawl back into games at varying points this season, and it looks like the Seahawks are going to make them work.

    Luckiest team in the NFL.

  2. vancouversportsbro says: Jan 17, 2016 3:10 PM

They don’t call them the cardiac cats for nothing. They’ve given up big leads all year and yet won in close games.

Chancellor head shot on Cotchery overlooked there.

Part of the reason why I like Russell since the first game I saw him which I believe was Primetime vs the 49ers (not a Hawk fan obviously) his first year. He came into the league with the ability to stay calm and weather the storm.

I am so digging this. Petey Boy doesn’t look happy. So tell me Squawk Nation, where is your dynasty team today. Tict tock homers!

  8. vancouversportsbro says: Jan 17, 2016 3:14 PM

Someone made a funny comment on how Seattle should fire their kicker for not making it a 28 point lead before halftime. If he made it it would only be a two possession game now.

  9. mrkbuilders says: Jan 17, 2016 3:15 PM

Keep the lead to 17 and you have a chance!

  10. theashleyguy says: Jan 17, 2016 3:15 PM

The quick scores are going to make it more than interesting. They have stopped Carolina twice. One more score in the third quarter–field goal or TD–and Carolina will panic.

Flagrant hold on Lynch not called.

    Fair catch interference not called.

NFL trying to keep the game close for ratings?

Really into the conspiracy theories, are we? I’ve seen a helmet-to-helmet on Norman that wasn’t called. Just part of the game.

    game over

    Come on Carolina.

  28. bleck5 says: Jan 17, 2016 3:49 PM

10 point game now. Carolina wont be able to win the big game if they keep letting these leads slip. Especially against teams like Seattle that take full advatage.

  30. mattcro0172 says: Jan 17, 2016 3:51 PM

This is why you take 3 points down 31-0 in first half.

After watching the Seahawks pull out improbable wins the past couple of seasons I’ll wait until they’ve been knocked out before singing their demise. Some of the posts I saw reminds me of last year’s Packers Seahawks game.

  32. jag1959 says: Jan 17, 2016 3:56 PM

The lead is down to 10 with 6 minutes left, time for either Carolina to put on the big boy pants and show they can finish. No dog in the fight just glad this game got more interesting after all, there aren’t many left

We will have a new team representing the NFC in the SuperBowl!!!

  38. beastmode5150 says: Jan 17, 2016 4:06 PM

You can tell new fans. “Teams like Seattle” In a negative tone. Carolina played great in the first half. Seattle playing great in the second and Showing experience and heart of champions. Carolina may still win, and deserve it, hopefully the new fans will learn something in the process.

  39. TebowedOutOfThePostSeasonsAndNeverToReturn says: Jan 17, 2016 4:06 PM

I missed the first half of the game so I don’t know how the score got to 31-0. But the play calling by Carolina in the second half – which I have had the misfortune to see – is the most bland, unimaginative, conservative turtle mode that I have ever seen. I mean there has not even been a modicum of effort to make a big play.

  50. seahawksfan4ever says: Jan 17, 2016 4:24 PM

Congratulations Carolina. Well played. No dirty plays, no one injured (hurt not injured). Great second half game, not so good first half on Hawks part. No excuses, but it would be parity if west coast teams coming east played the late game not the early game, but that’s the NFL.

  51. nflgtcfl says: Jan 17, 2016 4:25 PM

SEA start made me think of when DEN stunk up the stadium against them in the super bowl. Everything that could go wrong, did. And it snowballed from there.

As SEA kept coming I saw it slipping away from CAR, but they hung on. CAR has to ask themselves why they fell apart in the second half.

At the end of the game when SEA was 15-20 yards from a TD (They settled for FG as final score), one of the worst decisions i have seen in a long time.

Why would you pick that crucial moment to have Lynch line up as a receiver in a role he is completely unfamiliar with. Sure enough gets a penalty for being off the line and leaving the left tackle uncovered. (Illegal Formation).

This penalty came at a crucial time and sealed the deal.

The onside kick was well executed. That was a really hard catch and could have easily gone into SEA hands.

There really should be an age limit to posters on this board…Clearly it’s not grownups trolling Seattle like whining children. Or is it?

    Congratulations to Carolina!

Classy on Seattle not quitting when digging a hole for themselves of 31-0.

Time to revamp that OL Seattle…nowhere to go but up with that OL play this year.
