Former Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton will join Hue Jackson’s staff with the Browns.

Though the Browns have made no official announcements, NFL Network’s Albert Breer reported Wednesday that Hamilton and Hal Hunter will join Kirby Wilson and Al Saunders, both of whom had been previously confirmed to be joining the team’s offensive staff. Ray Horton will be the defensive coordinator.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefer, Hamilton’s title with the Browns will be associate head coach/offense. Per Breer, Hunter will be the offensive line coach.

Jackson will call his own plays, and Hamilton will coach the quarterbacks.

Hamilton, 41, was offensive coordinator at Stanford in 2011-12 and the Colts offensive coordinator from 2013 until he was fired last October. Hunter spent the last three seasons with the Colts and was the offensive line coach in 2015.

Is this the Browns? They have made some pretty good hires this offseason.

now all they need is a QB, convince Thomas and Mack to stay, get Josh Gordon reinstated and off the pipe, maybe a defense that can cover and tackle somebody, and Haslam to give them a friggin chance. All downhill from there lol

I like that Jackson is not only hiring experienced coaches, but he’s putting them in positions where they can use their strengths best. Saunders, Hamilton, and Hunter all have experience as offensive coordinator, but none of them are being put in that position. Saunders will stick to the passing game and wide receivers, Hamilton will stick to the quarterbacks, and Hunter will stick to the offensive line. He’s putting the right people in the right job.

Browns will still suck. That is all…

Amazing how a ‘real’ coach gathers a real staff.

Has it dawned on any of the complaining Browns fans that calling the plays does not mean he is also the OC? Not a Browns fan, but admire these hires. Also, he did not answer any criticism of his decision to call plays. Off to a great start. Now, just don’t heed writers or fans, and he can do well.

I have seen this before, over and over, but I have some hope now. As we say in Cleveland, believe it when I see it

WOW! I hate the Brown and the entire city of Cleveland, but they are putting together a nice staff.

find a QB…go heavy on the run, play ball control to let the rook QB get acclimated. Other than QB, draft D D D. This might really be something in 2 years.

It all looks good on paper. Good luck with the roster. If we draft well it’ll be for the first time in 17 drafts…

Congrats Browns fans! You now have Pep and Hal! The Colts could not have got rid of both of these guys soon enough. Pep’s inability to adapt to his personnel is legendary. Knowing he had a AWFUL OL (coached by none other than Hal Hunter) he continued to feed Luck 7 and 9 step drops, getting him killed weekly.

Browns can only go in one direction, can’t get any worse…….oh wait!
