The Arizona Cardinals are a game away from getting back running back Chris Johnson from injured reserve, and safety Tyrann Mathieu won’t be back until next season. As to the guys currently available to play, the list of injuries isn’t very extensive.

No Cardinals missed practice on Wednesday, and only five were limited due to injury: cornerback Justin Bethel (ankle), receiver John Brown (shoulder), running back David Johnson (toe), defensive tackle Josh Mauro (calf), and defensive tackle Frostee Rucker (ankle).

Fully participating in practice were linebacker Markus Golden (knee) and quarterback Carson Palmer (right finger).

The Cardinals, the No. 2 seed in the NFC, face the top-seeded Panthers in Carolina on Sunday. Which you already know if you care about football, but I felt like I should add it for completeness.

I find it really odd how Carson Palmer has a unbelievable wide receivers unit …Featuring a hall of fame wide receiver in Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd ….And Carson Palmer has 35 passing touchdowns on the season…Cam Newton who has a complete joke of a wide receivers unit featuring Ted Ginn – Devin Funchess -Brenton Bersin- Corey Brown-and Jerricho Cocthery…Cam Newton also has 35 passing touchdowns on the season as well …Cam Newton has put up the same production with way less talent …Yet people try to make the claim that Carson Palmer deserves the MVP award…Just Crazy…

I think the national media is way to dismissive of Tyrann Mathieu being out, while a lot is being made of injuries forcing Robert McClain into our starting lineup. Both teams have an All-Pro #1 corner and a sub at the #2 corner. If we assume Floyd and Ginn get shut down by Norman and Peterson, that leaves McClain to handle John Brown and Bethel to cover whoever lines up on the other side, probably Philly Brown or Devin Funchess. The way the Cheese Doodles picked on Bethel with their #9 and #10 receivers, I think we have the advantage there. Of course we’ll need Kuechly and/or Kurt Coleman to help Courtland Finnegan on Fitzgerald, or get a really good pass rush from our front 4 to sack the statue the Cardinals have for a QB.

I just think there’s more to the injuries the Cards do have than is being talked about.

It’s because the 2 QB’s are asked to do different things. The Cards have RB’s that score also, while Cam has done a lot of that for the Panthers. When the Card have been without Palmer, the teams play drops considerably, we don’t know about Cam. I think Cam will win, but to discount Palmer would lead me to believe you haven’t watched the Cards play much
