Bettors are lining up with New England

The AFC championship game is looming. And the bookies apparently will be rooting hard for the Broncos.

As explained by David Purdum of ESPN.com, gamblers are going heavy with wagers on the Patriots, with the line primarily at New England giving Denver three points.

The question has become whether to move the line to 3.5 points. The MGM tried that on Thursday, and the pendulum went the other way, balancing out the action. The Wynn did the same thing, but a huge, immediate push for the Broncos made that short-lived.

The surge for the Patriots isn’t surprising; many believe New England will blow out Denver. Vegas will be hoping that Peyton Manning and company can keep it to a field goal or less.

I wouldn’t take the Broncos at 6.5, although any game can be turned upside down by fumbles and interceptions.

Patriots will have trouble because of altitude, not skill.
Patriots showed up a day earlier to help bodies to adjust. Won’t happen because of acidosis in the blood, low ph. Body has to manufacture more red blood cells. Takes weeks. Breathing pure oxygen won’t help either. Lungs can’t take in all the oxygen we breathe as it is. Answer is to ingest a high ph base drink at the half like milk, bicarb. Go Pats!

The Hochuli fix is in per the NFL YELLOW FOLDER submitted to the NYC Appleate Court.

Peyton Mannings favorite color = PI Yellow & OPI Yellow for Brady.

I dont like the fact that the Pats are favored at all…..we play better as a underdog imho

Refs will be anti pats in this. Patriots need to get up big early so it doesn’t matter. If this is a close game in the league will make sure that their boy gets into the Superbowl and Brady goes home.

Denver’s front seven will have to keep them in this game. Denver’s coaches should be studying films from the Giant’s two SB wins over NE to see how they pulled it off. All day pressure on Brady is the only way Denver can win.

Really hoping that gets proved to be wrong but like many fans I too have my doubts. What we see today in this game will tell us a lot about just how far the league has moved in the WWE’s direction. The assignment of Hochuli to the game doesn’t exactly lessen that gnawing feeling. The league has brought these doubts on itself
Just hope both of today’s games are decided by the players not the zebras and the suits

The only way to beat it’s version of the pats is to injur Brady’s weapons. when Gronkowski Brady and Edelman has been healthy this team quite literally never loses going back two years

Apparently, more people believe cheating will prevail over fair play, skill, and hard work.

Something tells me the sportsbooks know what they’re doing better than the people who are betting…why else wouldn’t they stretch the line to a larger spread if there’s so much money coming in on New England?

Yes, you are not the only one who believes that Ed Hochuli and the rest of today’s crew will be fixing the game in the Broncos favor.

Denver is 11th in the league in penalties.

New England is 27th in the league in penalties.

Let’s see how that plays out today with Ed Hochuli officiating….Denver is 7-0 at home when Ed is the referee…

The market is balanced; why would Vegas root one way or the other? Unless there’s a last minute surge of activity.

  17. harrisonhits2 says: Jan 24, 2016 10:12 AM

I don’t see a blowout here. Denver has a great team playing at home.

Even if the Pats get up big early look for them to keep the gas pedal floored to eliminate any chance of a comeback. Belichick will take no chances with that.

  18. savethebs says: Jan 24, 2016 10:15 AM

Oh jeez Pats fans really? Lamest fan base in sports. Which is sad because the Pats are a great team. You don’t deserve them. You do realize Hochuli isn’t working with his normal crew? Pats are in a no-lose situation. If they do lose its because of refs, not getting beat. If they win, they win.

The D, The D, The D… the Denver D must win it.

The Offense… all depends on which one show up.

Love to see Kubiak blow up his offense, it’s painful to watch no matter who is in the pocket.

  21. willycents says: Jan 24, 2016 10:25 AM

In my opinion, this game comes down to holding calls and the run game.
If they call NE offensive line for holding enough to make them stop holding, Brady is in for a long day. If they call Denver’s defensive backs for holding, Denver is in for a long day.
Belichek will sell out to shut down Denver’s run game and force them to win by passing. If Denver shuts down the “run after catch,” NE will lose on Brady’s 2 yard passes.
I anticipate NE will start out trying to stretch the field to get Denver’s dbs to back off. Also, I think Denver will start out with a passing game to back NE dbs up and enable the run.
The way to throw off NE game plan is to insert Osweiller in the game frequently, or, run a dual qb system from the shotgun occasionally.

I’m not one for conspiracy theories. And I can confidently assume that NFL games are NOT fixed.

However, it often seems that in NFL games, particularly playoff games or games with playoff implications … questionable calls seem to go in favor of the team that is behind, keeping them in it and keeping the entire game more exciting and dramatic.

If I’m correct, I wouldn’t call that fixed but at the same time, it’s not completely kosher.

Components that are supposed to determine calls like pass interference and what is a catch and what isn’t, can be very subjective and make favoring the inferior team much easier.

Yeah that will help looking at 4 year old tape to study a team that has changed so much. This offense is better because it can get the ball out quicker and nullify the rush. That defense was built on throwing deep. Blitz all day Denver please!!!

Haha that was a good one. I have laughed so long in a while. Even Archie Manning and Jugghead don’t believe that.

Unfortunately, it’s the safest bet out there. Can’t see Denver pulling it off.

  28. zigthepatsfan says: Jan 24, 2016 10:49 AM

Nobody wants to hear Pats fans complain about the refs but there have been games vs Peyton and the Colts and in Denver w/o him, 4 games total where there were just numerous awful calls against the Pats. That’s just not me, a game vs Indy in 2007 the officials were so bad Goodell called the head ref in to his office. This one is in Denver, with Peyton…Most likely Peyton’s last chance…But I actually think Hochuli is one of the better officials. He likes his air time a little too much but generally calls a good game. But I’m hoping the game isnt close enough that even the NFL cant help Peyton win.
Call me crazy but nothing the NFL would stoop too will surprise me.

  29. mjd08501 says: Jan 24, 2016 10:52 AM

If the Patriots lose I can’t wait for all their fans to blame it all on the refs regardless of whatever happens on the field because we all know that New England is far too invincible to be defeated by the mere mortals that play on the other NFL teams without the help of the refs

  30. hivelocityimpactsplatter says: Jan 24, 2016 10:56 AM

Oh boy, look, the Patriots fans already have their excuses ready. They can’t possibly lose, so it must be the refs fault. All that tough talk evaporates into hot air. Not surprising really from a bunch of people who associate themselves with the accomplishments of other men. I guarantee you, if the Broncos win, not a single Patriots fan will have even the bare minimum class to congratulate the other team’s fans.

  31. solo681 says: Jan 24, 2016 11:18 AM

Patriots fans accept what we will all see take place on National TV.

If the Broncos outplay the Patriots, they deserve to go to the SB and shame on the Patriots.

IF, however, Hochuli & the Refs start throwing PI & OPI flags against the Patriots, while experiencing temporary blindness on the Broncos choking, holding & mugging the Pats D = Then we will all know & see the complete dismantling of FAIR PLAY & INTEGRITY at the hand of Rodger Goodel.

  32. fanofpft says: Jan 24, 2016 11:39 AM

There is no inside line when in comes to betting. The line comes from how many bets go to which team.

There are some sports writers calling for a pats blowout. This must be persuading betters. It is fueling some Bronco players like bulletin board material.

  33. ebdug says: Jan 24, 2016 12:14 PM

It looks like Vegas wants to wait til an hour before the opening touchback to add the hook. They’re trying to stiff the offshores when they lay off the action.

If Denver loses by exactly 3, you may see those offshore bookies hop into that maserati they bought with your post-up-money and hightail it out of there.

I know a lot of those guys don’t get too far.

    The GOAT vs. Noodle Arm……..

  35. gregdixon3300 says: Jan 24, 2016 12:41 PM

Denver will win if the referees call a fair game. The New England Offense Line does not get by with holding on each call. Late hits by the Pats are called. Gronkowski is not allowed to commit Offensive Pass Interference on every freaking play. Brady does not like to get hit hard – let the blitzing of the golden boy begin.

Brady was guilty of deflategate – Once a judge that Kraft does not have in his pocket reviews the case – Brady will be done!!

    Go Broncos!!!

  36. fritz96 says: Jan 24, 2016 1:02 PM

Then why is the line staying at -3 despite all the bets on the Pats?

Yes, but the pros are hammering the Bronco’s with big money while your uncle Joey is taking the Pats with his change jar money.
