Pro Bowl needs to replace 14 guys, at least

With the Super Bowl teams locked and loaded, the NFL will have to replace the 14 players from the Broncos and Panthers who won’t be going to Hawaii.

From Denver, cornerbacks Chris Harris Jr. and Aqib Talib and linebackers Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware must be replaced. From Carolina, quarterback Cam Newton, running back Jonathan Stewart, tight end Greg Olsen, center Ryan Kalil, guard Trai Turner, fullback Mike Tolbert, linebackers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis, defensive tackle Kawann Short, and cornerback Josh Norman.

Already, the Colts have announced that Vontae Davis will replace Harris. That leaves only 13 more announcements to be made.

And that doesn’t include the Patriots or Cardinals players who were healthy enough to play on Sunday but who will be too injured to play a week from now. Not that we blame them; why would anyone want to risk injury in a meaningless exhibition?

Scrap the pro bowl and just make an all star team, give them a high five and call it a day

Here we are upon the time of year when everyone who doesn’t care about the Pro Bowl spends copious amounts of time complaining about it.

Virtual certain Brady sits out and decent chance Palmer does too. Same for Dalton or Brees if they’re selected. It’d be nice to see Tyrod Taylor in there over a guy with more passing yards but less efficiency. Tyrod was 7th in passer rating, 7th in qbr, ran for 550 yards and went 8-6 as a starter. He shouldn’t be too far down the alternate list.

There should be a Super Bowl Jr. instead of the Pro Bowl for the two teams that lose the conference championship. NE vs. Ari. would be a good game and bring more money to the money depraved NFL

I would like the pro bowl to turn into a skills challenge type event. That way they still get to compete without the risk of injury.

They should have the National Champion College team play the NFL All-Stars in the Pro-Bowl.

  12. tjacks7 says: Jan 25, 2016 1:08 AM

They should get rid of the pro bowl and make the worst NFL team play the college football national champions.

Harrison Smith will be one of the replacements.

  14. coltzfan166 says: Jan 25, 2016 2:33 AM

Brady will claim injury. Bruised ego

This is another reason why the Pro Bowl should be played AFTER the Super Bowl, to give all the Super Bowl participants the chance to play.

Another reason is that it gives us one last game that isn’t too exciting at all, to end the season. A game that kinda lets you down…instead of ending the season with all the hype and excitement of the Super Bowl.

then it’s NOT a Pro Bowl

New name Kinda Like Pro Bowl

Robert Edwards prefers the safety of the pro bowl over a terrifying game of ‘tug of war.’

richie incognito to replace turner. unless he’s already replaced someone, i dont follow who the replacements are that closely

The worst part, players like Brent Grimes who had a horrible year made it just on past glory. He gets another undeserving notch. When you look at HOF players now you have to look at 1st and 2nd team all pro only.

Chris Berman needs another Hawaiian shirt.

The mere existence of the Pro Bowl, is a testament to how important it is for the owners to squeeze every last dollar out of its fans. Anybody who watches this crapathon is an idiot.

  22. mane1979 says: Jan 25, 2016 8:18 AM

    Delanie Walker. That is all.

  23. georgeremus says: Jan 25, 2016 8:39 AM

haha…Brady wouldn’t lower himself and attend this game

  24. kcflake says: Jan 25, 2016 9:20 AM

KC Chiefs Linebacker Derrick Johnson should be the #1 pick for the one of the open pro bowl linebacker spots. DJ should have gotten it anyway. he is THE MAN.

  25. bornahawker says: Jan 25, 2016 9:21 AM

    Pro Bowl is a joke!

  26. j huber says: Jan 25, 2016 9:53 AM

Hey, wait a minute. We already saw the Superbowl, between the NC Pretenders and Arizona Cardinals. None of that AFC trash is qualified to play. Game over before it began.

  27. frostymugobeer says: Jan 25, 2016 9:55 AM

I used to enjoy watching the pro bowl as a sort of “farewell” to the season .
Now that it is played before the SB it seems to have become more of a joke’

  28. vicvinegar00 says: Jan 25, 2016 11:02 AM

Will any of the actual pro bowlers take the field? Or is it going to be entirely replacements ? W

If I were Emperor, here’s what I would do with this game – and the entire NFL schedule:

    1) Play the Pro Bowl Sundays before Thanksgiving. Every team plays every week until Pro Bowl week.

    2) The weekend before Thanksgiving, no NFL games. Return all the traditional college rivalry games (‘Bama-Auburn, Ohio St-Michigan, etc.) to that weekend – some on Saturday, some on Sunday, so us football addicts still have something to watch.

    3) Thanksgiving weekend – 3 games on Thanksgiving, 2 on Friday, 2 on Saturday, 8 on Sunday and 1 on Monday.

    4) Return to AFC vs. NFC format.

So every team gets a 2-week bye after about 11 games, no 6-7 week period of a few teams on bye each week, the NFL all-star game is in the middle of the season like the other sports, and maybe we get a better contest.
