Bridgewater, Barr get belated trips to Pro Bowl

Monday’s PFT Live included a question from a Vikings fan who was miffed at the absence of Minnesota players in the Pro Bowl. Since then, three have been added to the annual all-star game.

In addition to safety Harrison Smith, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and linebacker Anthony Barr have filled spots vacated by Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer and Patriots linebacker Jamie Collins.

The Vikings now have five Pro Bowlers, with running back Adrian Peterson and defensive end Everson Griffen getting their spots as original members of the pool of players announced in December.

And so maybe the fan who complained about the Vikings having few Pro Bowlers will now be placated. Hopefully, that same fan won’t be lamenting in a week a serious injury suffered by any member of the Vikings contingent in a game that doesn’t count.

Sure, serious injuries rarely happen in the half-speed scrimmage that people watch because it’s on TV. But it’s just a matter of time before someone tears an ACL in a game that doesn’t matter, and when that happens the Pro Bowl itself could snap along with the ligament.
