Batten down the hatches, there’s another Gronkowski on the way

Hide the women and children. There’s another Gronkowski on the way.

This one, the baby of the family, is Glenn Gronkowski, a Kansas State fullback who is trying to impress NFL scouts at this week’s Senior Bowl. But he said he doesn’t talk much about the process yet with his big brother Rob, the Patriots tight end/America’s id who is probably doing god knows what right now.

We don’t talk much football when we’re around each other because we hear it all the time,” Glenn said, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “But Rob always says, ‘Listen to your coaches, your coaches know best, without them we would have no clue what to do and we wouldn’t have success.’”

“He says listen and give it your all.”

Yeah, that’s what he says. Except he says it in emojis, while opening two cans of domestic beer simultaneously with his teeth and dating the entire staff of Hooters (the chain, not just one restaurant).

“We’re proud of him, he has a lot of fun,” Glenn said of Rob. “That’s how you play the game. He’s had an awesome career and it’s been fun to watch.”

But while Glenn may never live up to his brother’s exploits, he’s also trying to sell himself to scouts as a versatile fullback/H-back/special teamer. He’s a three-time All-Big 12 pick, so he has credentials on his own, as he tries to become the fourth Gronk to make the NFL (along with brothers Chris and Dan).

“This is a great experience to be around these players, coaches and scouts,” Glenn said. “I have so much respect for everyone here. Just to be in front of them and get to show what you can do is just awesome. I’m very versatile, very dynamic and I can work around in a lot of places.

“Versatility and being dynamic in the NFL is what you need to have because there are only so many roster spots. So, being able to help out in a lot of spots and on special teams is key.”

Glenn was also an Academic All-Big 12 selection. We don’t know this, but we’re just guessing that meant his brother called him a dork and gave him wedgies, such that that wasn’t happening anyway.
