Jets defensive end Sheldon Richardson was arrested last July after being clocked driving 143 m.p.h. by police in Missouri, who said in the initial police report that a 12-year-old was a passenger in the car.

There was also mention of a handgun and the smell of marijuana in the car, but Richardson ultimately was charged with resisting arrest and various other traffic violations. Richardson pleaded not guilty to the charges over the summer, but agreed to a guilty plea with prosecutors to resolve the case on Tuesday.

According to multiple reports, Richardson avoided jail time and will serve two years of probation. Should those years pass without incident, the misdemeanor resisting arrest charge will be erased from his record. Richardson will also have to do community service and pay fines related to the traffic violations.

The NFL can discipline Richardson under the personal conduct policy. He was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season for violating the substance abuse policy.
