The New England Patriots are losing one of their defensive assistants to the New York Giants.

According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, Patriots linebackers coach Patrick Graham is leaving the team to join Ben McAdoo’s staff with the Giants as a defensive line coach.

Graham has spent the last seven seasons as an assistant under Bill Belichick with the Patriots. After joining the team as a defensive assistant in 2009, Graham became the team’s linebackers coach in 2011. He moved to the defensive line for 2012-13 before returning to linebackers in 2014.

Graham was a defensive lineman at Yale before moving into coaching upon graduation.

Well, they didn’t win the Super Bowl. The entire coaching staff failed and should be cleaned out. This goes for the other 31 teams that won’t win the Super Bowl either.

He’s a young and underrated assistant. Good to see him get the nod, wish him well.

Not surprised at the move, unfortunately we are at the end of our dynasty.

    .
Graham was rumored to be the heir apparent to Matt Patricia as the next defensive coordinator. It seems unusual that the Patriots would allow him to leave in a lateral move.

If Matt Patricia the current DC of the Patriots got a HC job with another team, it was rumored that Graham was next in line to take over the DC role. He had some practice calling the defensive plays on the last preseason game of 2015.

It’s not rats leaving a sinking ship but other teams valuing the talent that the Patriots have on their staff and offering them better jobs with more money to join their team.

The Patriots also didn’t fire anyone on their staff. They decided not to renew contracts that had expired.

I wouldn’t count New England out as long as BB is coaching the team, This seems like a solid hire by the Giants – just hoping the team can improve with Coughlin gone.

He’s a linebacker coach going to be a line coach, you understand that right?

It could just be me, but does anyone else feel like there’s been a lot more assistants making lateral moves between organizations?

Best to get away before more cheating scandals arise. Good move

  13. pittsburghdamned says: Jan 29, 2016 3:54 AM

Then there’s that well known fact about the Giants owning the Patriots too I suppose…

We are not at the end….not yet. Bill is taking steps to fix some of the problems that hit so hard at the end of the season….namely, they will be going with a new strength and conditioning coach. At last count, there were 20 guys on IR…not to mention all the guys lost for parts of the season. The O line went through 5 (FIVE) left tackles……you know…the guy who is supposed to protect the QB’s blind side. If they can lessen the amount of IR players, they will be in better shape at the end of the season.

Graham will soon learn like many other patriot assistants it’s much easier to cheat and win than to just win. He’ll be fired in two seasons and back to belicheat.

Assistant coaches leaving? Unheard of!. Yep, it’s the end. How will the Pats survive without 3 assistant coaches?

Never mind that the main core players are still under contract for at least 2017, the Owner, HC, OC, DC, and QB are still there. SMH

So when you say “we are at the end of our dynasty” you must be referring to something other than the Pats right??? Because if not, you have no idea what you’re talking about. The Pats will field pretty much the same team next year with the same coach and coordinators. The dynasty isn’t close to ending.

    “our” dynasty… LOL.

Perfectly understandable why Patriot Hater would want nothing to do with the little weaklings they call their own team and want to be associated with a REAL MAN’s team, the 4 time World Champion Patriots. Who am I to criticize that? I can’t blame them.:)

Teams poached the players, now they’re poaching the brains. Teams want to be like the Patriots. Texan now Lions even Giants…. Part of business. You hire the best. The Patriots is the best and the Patriots pedigree is valued in the NFL. Those guys deserve to get the opportunity and prove themselves. Teams make changes at the end of the seasons. BB will re-evaluate and re-group. Nothing new…
You haters will change your tune if your loser teams get anybody from the Patriots.

Ahhh yes. All the Pats coaches and assistants cheat to get ahead. I guess the teams hiring these guys don’t mind bringing this culture to their club….no? I mean, these clubs must know something is going on in New England. As you always indicate, its blatant and obvious. If the only way these guys are successful is because they cheat, either these other clubs don’t care or are not very bright and can’t see the forest through the trees.

    It’s a no-brainer.

Just like last off season. If this one is anything like it a lot of players will soon follow. And they will have it hard hiring most of them. But there is no FA problem.

  31. phuckauffewe says: Jan 29, 2016 6:29 PM

Why are all of these teams hiring Pat’s coaches when every knows the only reason they ever win is because they are cheaters? Are all of their victories now going to come with an * ?

Are all of these teams planning on cheating? Or is it because the Patriots staff is one of the hardest working, best trained staffs in the modern salary cap era of football?

Something tells me it’s the latter.

  32. trina16 says: Jan 29, 2016 7:11 PM

Can’t beat them on the field.
    Can’t beat them with Framegate.
    Can’t beat them by tampering.
    Can’t beat them by FA.
Now they’re trying to beat them by taking their staff.

Now we have Li’l Pats North and Li’l Pats South. Just admit it… you want to BE the Patriots.

What up Cheat Nation? How’s your OS (off-season) treating ya? Y’all rooting for the AFC in SB 50?
