Broncos starting safeties miss practice again

T.J. Ward AP

The Broncos practiced without starting safeties Darian Stewart and T.J. Ward for a second straight day Friday.

Stewart has a sprained MCL but has vowed that he will be ready to go for the Super Bowl on Feb 7. Ward aggravated an ankle injury in the AFC Championship Game.

The Broncos will practice again Saturday before flying to the Bay Area on Sunday.

The Panthers are listing seven players as questionable, including starters Thomas Davis, Ryan Kalil, Kawann Short, Jonathan Stewart and Charles Johnson.

Rest ’em as long as you can Kubiak.

That defense shows flashes of all-time greatness when they are both on the field.

Brady couldn’t do anything for the first three quarters when both Ward and Stewart were on the field (just the one TD on a short field after the “backward pass”). It was only after both Ward and Stewart were injured that the Pats finally started to move the ball and complete passes to Gronk. Denver was down to its 5th and 6th string safeties at that point, both of whom signed with the team in December.

The injuries to Ward, Stewart, Bruton, and Bolden have been brutal this year. Denver was actually pretty deep at the position, but no team is built to have 5th and 6th stringers that were just signed to replace the other four guys ahead of them.

Pretty nice to have the two weeks off between the Conference Championships and Super Bowl.

With both of these guys back in the fold, the defense is going to very difficult to beat.

Uh oh. Maybe the Denver defense won’t be able to bail out the Broncos. With ol’ noodle arm pitching this could get ugly real fast.

Have ol’ nuts ‘n’ bolts neck share his HGH with Darian Stewart and T.J. Ward. You know, the stuff that came addressed to his wife at their home.
