Panthers practiced with piped-in noise on Friday

Friday’s fully-padded practice for the Carolina Panthers included something that the team doesn’t know how much the Super Bowl will entail: Noise.

As explained by Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer, the Panthers piped in extra decibels in order to prepare for whatever sounds may be coming from the stands at Levi’s Stadium.

“[We] don’t know how the crowd is going to react so we worked the crowd noise on both sides of the ball,” coach Ron Rivera said.

The Panthers used crowd noise throughout the week, uncertain as to whether the crowd in Santa Clara will favor Carolina or Denver during the game.

I’ve been to the Superbowl…it’s mostly a bunch of corporate people and the rest fans of every team in the league…each team has a small travel section…once the game gets going less fan noise than a Chargers-Browns August preseason game played midweek in Birmingham, Alabama. Might as well practice in a library.

    Hey, that’s the Falcon’s trick..

noise isn’t really a problem at Levi’s stadium. Part of that is because of the mild 49er fan base (which includes many corporate types in the stands). But the other reason is because of the open area design of the stadium. It was supposed to emphasize the nice Northern California sunny weather. But the result is a stadium that doesn’t hold in sound (which doesn’t allow the crowd to effect the opposing team which gives the Niners little homefield advantage).

It shows that the Panthers learned from the Patriots stupidity. New England couldn’t execute the ” silent snap ” throughout their game at Denver. The Broncos linebackers consistently beat the Patriots tackles off the snap.

That’s why New England quickly parted ways with their offensive line coach immediately following the loss to Denver.

was there a DJ to spin for for Cam’s celebration jumping jacks ? ..

he’s gonna go 14 days without celebrating a win halfway through the game when he should be going over play sheets and the like, after all

Lol, gotta expect stupidity on a pats site like this I guess.

Aren’t most super bowls pretty mild in the noise department?

  12. subotai1 says: Jan 30, 2016 8:27 PM

    That picture is hillarious

Considering the super bowl is mostly celebrities and millionaires who just want to be part of the party… they have to have fake noise during the game simply to make it look/sound better on tv. We know here’s not nearly that many actual fans of the teams participating in at the game. Such a shame it can’t be more like the other major sports simply because they want to have 2 weeks of nonsense to “hype it up.”

Crowd noise would only matter if the Steelers were there. For anyone else the point is moot. Or you could even say it is mute.

  16. alaskazz says: Jan 30, 2016 10:10 PM

Steelers – haha – fortunately, the band wagon fans can start dropping off over the next 20 years. Big Ben is done.

All the young punk trash talkers. Love it. The game will be played, win or lose. Those that underestimated the Panthers all season I hope you line up after the game for your slice of humble pie. 50th SuperBowl will be special. May the best team win and everyone return home safely.

  22. genericnflfan says: Jan 31, 2016 9:01 AM

they’re preparing to face Peyton, NOT the Colts though.

  23. surfinbird1 says: Jan 31, 2016 1:43 PM

Nothing like a little Frank Sinatra music….right Cam.

    Go Panthers!

  24. headwoundharry says: Jan 31, 2016 5:38 PM

Piped in music you mean. Camera Newton has to dance after every practice play.

  25. jgedgar70 says: Feb 1, 2016 12:37 PM

This is a smart move. The people in the stands will have completely bought into the “Please, Lord, let Peyton walk off into the sunset with the Lombardi” narrative we have been force-fed ever since the end of the AFCCG and will all be rooting for the Donkeys. Preparing for that is smart.
