Woody Johnson sees 2015 as progress, despite Week 17

Jets owner Woody Johnson was very pleased with how his team performed in its first-year under coach Todd Bowles. At least until the final game of the season.

Johnson said there’s no denying the progress the team made, although losing the final game of the year and therefore missing the playoffs left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth.

“From 4-12 to 10-6,” Johnson said, via ESPN. “So far, so good. . . . I feel pretty good about the new team in place and about what they are capable of doing. I am sorry the way we lost the way we did.”

Johnson believes Bowles proved over the course of the season that he’s the right leader for the team.

“I thought from a leadership standpoint the team hung together. You could see that. It evolved and towards the end of the year, I could see the team becoming stronger,” Johnson said.

Maybe next year, continuing to get stronger will include winning when the playoffs are on the line.
