Lions ax Sheldon White

After finishing 2015 as the Lions’ G.M., Sheldon White will start 2016 looking for a new job.

White and the Lions have parted ways, Justin Rogers of MLive reports.

Although White finished the season as interim G.M. following the firing of Martin Mayhew and interviewed for the job on a permanent basis, there was no room for him in new G.M. Bob Quinn’s front office.

White played cornerback for the Lions from 1990 to 1992 and has been with the team’s personnel department since 1997, when he was hired as a scout. Now he’ll seek employment elsewhere in the NFL, as the Lions continue to make substantial changes with Quinn at the helm.
