Disturbing details in Manziel-Crowley affidavit

AP

The affidavit filed by Johnny Manziel’s ex-girlfriend as part of the protective order she’s received from him contains some disturbing details.

NBC 5 in Dallas posted the affidavit Monday. In it, Coleen Crowley said she told a parking valet she feared for her life and later had to threaten Manziel with a knife to get him to leave her apartment.

A police helicopter began searching for Manziel early on the morning of Jan. 30 after Crowley banged on a neighbor’s door and screamed to another for help. Crowley said Manziel had been physical with her, grabbing by the hair to throw her in the car and hitting her in the ear with an open hand. Crowley said that’s when she struck Manziel back and also said she still could not hear out of her ear days later.

Crowley said she was also restrained by Manziel against a hotel door and that Manziel threatened to kill them both.

Dallas Police opened a criminal investigation into the matter last week, and an NFL investigation is ongoing. The Browns have not been able to reach Manziel and plan to release him next month.

  1. I can always find a redeeming quality about anyone. I can no longer say that. What a complete and total waste of life, time, and space.

  2. Sad that this young man has thrown away so many opportunities that many of us will never come close to having.

He needs serious mental illness help. He also needs to spend some time locked up. While there may be reasons requiring treatment that are factors in his destructive and horrible behavior, a life without consequences does not help. He deserves the appropriate punishment for these despicable acts. Hopefully he can make something of his life afterwards.

  3. How in the world could Dallas PD look at this account and then just let him go. Oh, that’s right. It’s Texas. Wealthy oil barons can legally claim Affluenza.

  4. Hey guy who’s blaming police for “sweeping it under the rug”
You need evidence of a crime to charge someone. Independent witnesses, injury…something. Not just “he probably did it because he’s an alcoholic celebrity”

  5. Not good, not good at all. Makes you wonder if any team will touch him now even if he does the rehab/counseling circuit.

  6. Maybe the Dallas PD closed the initial case because they could find ZERO evidence backing up this woman’s claim? Zero evidence of swelling, scratching or physical impact or restraint?

  7. Writing has been on the wall since college….the league would be smart to show him the door. The Brown’s can play lip service to wanting to help him all they want, but in the end, they are not responsible for his actions and should part ways as soon as possible.

  8. I think it’s important to not rush to judgment here….we haven’t heard Johnny’s side of the story yet.

Let’s dont convict people without due process.

  9. Jerry Jones embraced Greg Hardy with open arms. Hopefully he will do the same for Johnny (and his girlfriend). Welcome them both to live at his Texas ranch.

  10. He needs banned from the NFL until he can control himself. Johnny is a Selfish, Affluent spoiled brat who has always gotten his way his way in life or has been bailed our or gotten a slap on the wrist.
Make a spot on the roster for a kid that actually works hard and appreciates it.

  11. Typical know nothings here like granadafan. Dallas/Austin is a heavily Democrat strong hold in Texas, right along with Houston and San Antonio. But hey don’t let facts get in the way of your Socialist view point.

  12. I’ll trust law enforcement here. Accusations is not a conviction. If he is guilty, arrest him. But most of these comments are ridiculous. Anybody can write an affidavit. That doesn’t make him guilty.

  13. Dallas police have to be careful how they handle this situation. Push to hard, he’ll be in jail. Don’t push hard enough, he won’t have the Greg Hardy “leader” quality that the Cowboys owner loves so much. Can’t bring Johnny Foosball to Dallas unless he is a leader.

  14. I am not a fan of this guy at all. However, I find it disturbing so much stuff is leaked and put out to the general public before people have their day in court or sealed papers during the legal process get leaked to news outlets and other places like TMZ.

  15. Let’s keep in mind that all we’ve seen this kid do is have a coupla drinks. Reports of his misbehavior are coming from a jilted girlfriend and a washed out ex-coach.

  16. I hate the Pats, but getting picked up by them might be the best scenario for Johnny Football. If Belicek, Brady, and that veteran locker room can’t get through to him on how to be a professional football player, he will never get it.

  17. Before we jump on him, and everyone here plays judge, jury, and executioner, remember: innocent until proven guilty. If someone said this type of stuff about you, you would hope you had a fair day in court. Not saying he’s innocent, not saying he’s guilty…but let everything come out first.

  18. to be fair, this is HER version of the story. could be true, probably is, but i’m not jumping to any conclusions on this just yet.

also worth nothing that people close to the situation have stated that this girl is crazy. I wouldn’t be shocked if she was over-embellishing on these details.

  19. And people are mad at Newton for walking out of a press conference. This guy is a menace and needs help!

  20. Well, he likes to smack women around, and she likes to bar hop. But she doesn’t like him seeing other girls. Boy, those crazy, young millennials!

So when someone threatens another persons life and no ones around to hear it… the cops are like ehh we can send a Copter to look for him but another than that tough luck?

This is the second incident in the last 4 months… I feel they could have been more proactive more interviews talking to friends that were at the hotel supposedly many hotels have security cameras …. I am not saying they had to charge him at all but they shoudln’t have just dimissed it as quick as they did either…

  22. You don’t hear anything about him roughing up men. Typically, drunk p-ssy. Probably has an entourage to deal with “real” threats.

Maybe he needs to date Rhonda Rousey

  23. His history says he is a db. That history also enables the woman to lie and still be believable. The cops should investigate and determine what happened and then deal with the situation. If he is a scumbag, charge him. If she is lying, charge her with false report or something similar. If it turns out to be she said/he said with no way to determine the actual facts, order them apart and each can move on and then hammer the side that violates that order in the future.

  24. Multiple police departments and the NFL’s own security team looked into this and didn’t find that Manziel did anything. I know…facts. But the feminists and the media automatically believe her. Sounds like Johnny got with a crazy chic and didn’t get out fast enough. It’s partly his fault. Hopefully a team will see through this obvious cash grab and give him an opportunity to fix his image and realize his immense talent on the field.

If you believe for one second that these allegations are true than I’m sure you frequent TMZ and are beyond help anyway.

  25. This is different than the johnny the media tried to make us feel sorry for. This is NOT poor sick addicted johnny. This is rotten to the core evil johnny who needs to get locked away. He doesn’t need therapy! He needs a wakeup call!

  26. I had always thought that Manziel was comparable to Ryan Leaf. But now it looks like he’s more comparable to Rae Carruth except that Manziel hasn’t killed anyone…yet.

  27. I once had an ex that wrote an affidavit against me, claimed that I chased her around her yard trying to hit her, she lied of course, when we went to court it was thrown out. Here’s the funny part about the case: I live in Philadelphia, she live in VA(where it was filed) and Judge found her claims baseless and scolded her on the spot for filing a false report and wasting everyone’s time. After the hearing she approached me in the hallway and said “I thought your girlfriend would have to bail you out of jail”, imagine that…..

My point is this: one can write anything in a affidavit, doesn’t make it true. I find it hard to believe the police didn’t arrest him if she was smacked around like she claims and she didn’t press no charges…..

  28. “Multiple police departments and the NFL’s own security team looked into this and didn’t find that Manziel did anything. I know…facts.”

Might want to actually read the articles before commenting. This isn’t the earlier domestic dispute from months back. This all happened Jan. 30. The police have an open investigation and nobody has determined anything in barely a week.

  29. It’s crazy how bad of a bust he is, considering he went to the team with basically the lowest possible standards for a starting QB. Like, all you have to do is not be TERRIBLE, and the fans will go crazy for you. Just look at how much Bills fans love Tyrod Taylor. I feel for Cleveland fans… going on decades of just hot garbage after hot garbage.

  30. If you go to YouTube and listen to the audio and video when Johnny and Collleen Crowley got pulled over ….and are talking to the Cops when Browns linebacker Paul Kruger pulls up and tells the police …that this woman is bad news and that Johnny should not be with her… It speaks volumes… Kruger knows something…

  31. This all happened Jan. 30. The police have an open investigation and nobody has determined anything in barely a week.

Because there was nothing to go on that’s why the police closed the case. She had changed her story later. And must have bribed/lied to the judge.

  32. The only way any of this makes sense is if that homeless guy was Matt Millen outside of the Browns stadium begging for a job.

There’s no other logical explanation for how Haslam would have ran into this random homeless guy and taken his advice, and that the homeless guy would turn out to be such a horrible judge of talent.

  33. A fews years behind bars is the only help he needs. Give him that much time to think about his life and what he has done and where he has gone wrong. Forget football at this point. His life is a joke at the moment.

  34. My hose of us who didn’t want this guy drafted on to the Browns in the first place, because we knew that he not only didn’t have the talent to make it in the pros, but was obviously an alcoholic headcase with affluenza, are laughing our butts offat all those folks who cried for him to be the starter and just knew he would tear up the league and kept begging the team to give him a chance because, hey, what’s wrong with being 20 something and going to the bar?

well, now you know what the rest of us knew the whole time. Congratulations.

  35. What an arrogant little punk Manziel is. I wish he’d pick on someone his own size. The trouble is, the only people his size are women.
I hope the Browns cut him and no other team signs him. He is a no-talent lost cause.
Let him be a lesson to all NFL teams. The old adage that a leopard doesn’t change it’s spots is so true.
The only NFL place Johnny Busto should occupy is the one which lists all the other busts who tried to make it in the NFL and failed miserably.
Put his name between Ryan Leaf and JaMarcus Russell, two other highly touted QB’s who were also all time busts.

  36. This ol’ boy is POUNDING on Heaven’s door. I hope he gets the help he needs before it’s too late.

Just for fun, I’d like to hear his side before the hanging in the square.
    ============

He’s already given his side of the story publicly.

There are other websites besides this one, you know.

  38. A better question is if these are the details why did the police Initially decline to file charges?

  39. To think not long ago his jersey sales were on top. Bet the homeless won’t wear them now

    ———————————————————

The homeless guy that convinced Haslam to draft him will wear his though and through.

  40. Manziel comments vs McCoy comments… Manziel needs help, McCoy needs jail. And I thought we were progressing when it comes to racial bias.

  41. This guy is on a Titus Young career trajectory.

Next step — he claims it is all alcohol-related, enters a cushy rehab and takes the short “Hollywood Cure.”

  42. This guy is so bad for the NFL that the Browns ought to release him asap and the NFL ought to forgive the cap hit for it.

Then, NCAA style, the NFL ought to slap a “show cause” penalty on Johnny 99.

  43. to the people who keep saying “innocent until proven guilty” well, i won’t get much into that, but here’s the point i will make.

i dont care if he’s innocent or guilty of it (if he’s guilty then charge him and book him), BUT even if he’s innocent, the fact that he’s even accused of this is beyond dumb. if this was just one strike, it wouldnt be as big a deal, but Johnny is a walking TMZ story for all the wrong reasons. RG3 was on TMZ, but it wasnt because he was partying in Vegas or reportedly beating his wife or drinking up….it had to do with football. When you hear more about Johnny partying, drinking or drama with women than about football, then any major story will be a strike and Johnny is past his 3rd strike. he’ll be blessed to just find a 3rd string QB job right now because no one wants that drama. if he ever wants to play in the nfl again, he needs to seriously sit at home like some hermit and only get out for practice and football games.

  44. I once had an ex that wrote an affidavit against me, claimed that I chased her around her yard trying to hit her, she lied of course, when we went to court it was thrown out. I experienced the exact same thing bogus charges while I was out of state. A female judge looked at her and said I doubt if there has been any violence in this marriage. Two. like you said anybody can go file a charge but you have to prove it on court day. Johnny maybe getting set up here

  45. @dimebettor

A better question is if these are the details why did the police Initially decline to file charges

no visible evidence, no medical records. do you know how many women use the cops to get revenge on guys?

  46. The affidavit is not believable. How can someone force you to get in a car against your will on the passenger side and then walk around to the driver side and you are still in the car? If you wanted out, there is no way in hell he would be able to get you in on the passenger side. As soon as he closes the door, and walks around you should be sprinting out of the car to the club, yelling and screaming if your life was in danger. Also, how can you agree to go to his room and spend the night and say, well, I’m sleeping on the couch? What?!

The affidavit has some holes in logic. Sorry.

  47. All he had to do is not be totally crazy and Jerry would’ve picked him up. No can do.

And to think people actually tried to compare this guy ro Russell wilson. Laughable.

  48. Johnny is quickly moving up the All-time QB Bust list. He’s about to pass JaMarcus Russell, and is knocking on Ryan Leaf’s door. What a waste of a very promising life.

  49. In a world where there are 32 potential job openings and only about 15 are nailed down, guys like Johnny Highball will always get more chances to prove they can beat the odds.

Due process, dude hasn’t been charged or arrested, Id say he is getting plenty of space, despite of the busted ear drum and other other factors. For Johnny

  52. Sounds like a case of mental illness. The brain can be as sick as the heart or lungs. Alcohol, ego, mental illness and you have Johnny Football.
