A player who says he was hurt when a piece of metal fell and hit him on the head while he was at Ford Field for the 2014 regional combine has sued the Detroit Lions.
Former Temple defensive tackle Shahid Paulhill has filed a lawsuit against the Lions and the Downtown Detroit Building Authority, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Paulhill says he was hit by “a section of tubular metal approximately 2 feet in length” that fell from somewhere above him. His agent, Rod Ardoin, said Paulhill suffered a significant injury and was removed from the combine.
“A pipe fell from the field and actually, in the stadium, and actually hit Shahid in the head,” Ardoin told the Free Press. “It was so bad to where he sustained a pretty -- I’m not a doctor, of course, but it was a substantial concussion to where the facility doctors, the doctors that were on hand, actually withheld him from running in the combine at all, period. I mean, blurred vision, headaches, nausea, the whole nine yards. For a while.”
Paulhill participated in another regional combine last year and is now on the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League.
