At first, it appeared that authorities in Dallas would brush under the rug the incident involving Johnny Manziel and his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley. Now, the exact opposite thing is happening.
According to Patrick McManamon of ESPN.com, the Dallas Police Department obtained Crowley’s medical records this week as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. Per an unnamed source cited by McManamon, the contents of the records could be used in connection with a decision to file charges against Manziel.
Crowley reportedly suffered a ruptured eardrum as a result of an assault by Manziel. He could, per McManamon, face felony charges.
Manziel will be released by the Browns on March 9. The specter of domestic violence makes the chances of Manziel finding another job unlikely, especially in light of his apparently unresolved issues with substance-abuse.
