Dolphins add Chekwa, Cruz to offseason roster

The Dolphins announced the signings of cornerback Chimdi Chekwa and wide receiver A.J. Cruz on Friday.

Chekwa, 27, was a fourth-round pick of the Raiders in 2011 who’s also spent time with the Patriots. He was cut by the Raiders before last season began but has played in 32 career games, starting four.

Cruz, 24, has played the last two seasons in the Arena League. He went to camp with the Bears last year and was among the final cuts.

He figures to get a shot to return kicks with the Dolphins.

Neither are guards. We do need CBs but we have our own scrubs already so if you get one in free agency, at least make it a guy who could win a starting job.

I’m excited about Gase and dolphin fans need to focus on the future not the past. Sign all big 4 free agents and draft well.

It’s just minor league fodder. I’ll be surprised if they make it through training camp.
