With several members of their secondary set for free agency, the back end of the Steelers defense could look very different than it did last season.

It may bear resemblance to the one they fielded in 2014, however. According to multiple reports, the Steelers have reached out to cornerback Brice McCain to express interest in working him out after next week’s scouting combine.

McCain spent the 2014 season with the Steelers and started nine games before heading to the Dolphins as a free agent. McCain had 25 tackles, three interceptions and a touchdown during his year in Pittsburgh and made 11 starts with Miami in 2015 before getting released last week.

McCain has already visited with the Buccaneers as he works to find a job for next year. The Steelers have cornerbacks William Gay, Antwon Blake and Brandon Boykin set to become free agents next month.

Im not saying he wouldn’t be better than Blake but enough with all the retreads. Let’s bring in capable guys to play DB

OMG I can see it now, after the Steelers draft the “BPA” at pick # 25, and if it isn’t a CB or S, Tomlin & Colbert will say how they got McCain via free agency and Golson (2016 2nd rd pick) returns from injury.

The Steelers should go DB in the 1st 2 rounds, then TE, NT/DT, OL, RB/FB, and QB

Why’d we let him walk the first time? So we could re-sign him for more money than it would have taken to re-sign him the first place? Smh.

We klet him walk because he was not worth the salary he wanted… if the Steelers want him now it will come at a fraction of what Miami spent

He was the worst corner on the Dolphins. He was constantly getting burnt all season. The only reason they kept playing him is because they had no one else besides Grimes.

Steelers can have him ……teams line up and check to see where #25 is and go that way with lots of success!

hopefully the Buc’s sign him but knowing uncle Tomlin he want’s Blake and McCain as his starters cause he was really upset that they were only the 2nd worst secondary in the league last year….uncle Tomlin hates being 2nd anything.

When he was released by the Dolphins, I immediately knew he would wind up back in Pittsburgh. The question will be who is cheaper, McCain or Boykin? Boykin cost the Steelers a draft pick already.

More importantly, congrats to Heath on his retirement. You will be missed.

He can’t play the outside. As soon as injuries happen to others and he needs to cover them your screwed.

Given that Big Ben can’t put up more than one TD per PO game, they’re going to need about 100 cornerbacks. LOL.
