Another veteran player has ridden off into the sunset. This time without the sunset. And without the riding.

Steelers tight end Heath Miller has retired, with simply a statement issued by the only team for which he ever played.

There’s not even a quote from Miller in the statement. It’s just a statement that he has called it quits.

The 2005 first-round pick started 167 of 168 regular-season games, and 15 postseason games. He holds the franchise record at his position for catches, yards, and touchdowns, with 592, 6,569, and 45, respectively. In 2012, a season that ended with Miller suffering a torn ACL, Miller was named the team’s MVP.

The move clears Miller’s $4 million salary number for the 2016 league year.
