Chris Johnson hopes to remain with the Cardinals

Last year, the Cardinals wisely added veteran running back Chris Johnson, whom the Cowboys unwisely ignored throughout the offseason. He delivered with 814 yards in 11 games.

Now, Johnson wants to extend his stay, and he says the feeling is mutual.

They want me back and I want to be back, but you know how the business side is,” Johnson told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday, via Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com. “Everything has got to be right for both parties but I can’t wait for both sides to get started [talking].”

If Chris Johnson stays, he could end up playing second fiddle to David Johnson, who had a strong rookie season and about whom G.M. Steve Keim recently raved. But given that Chris Johnson didn’t have any other options last year and in light of the reality that, like the rest of us, he’s a year older, the Cardinals could be his only option, again.

Always liked CJ2K it drove me nuts people calling him done when he put out 1000 yards a year in Tennessee. I wish him the best.

The only two issues I see with this is: Is he willing to play for a similar contract as he did in 2015 & is he willing to be part of a rotation where he might only get about 5-10 touches a game? If he has no issue with either, then I think Keim will bring him back.
