Texans defensive end J.J. Watt had surgery to repair a sports hernia a couple of days after the Texans lost to the Chiefs in the opening round of the playoffs.

The surgery kept Watt from playing in the Pro Bowl, but that looks like it will be the only football activity that Watt misses as a result of the injury. Watt emerged from his log cabin on Monday evening to announce on social media that it was his first day back on a full training schedule after the procedure.

“Day 1 allowed back to full training since surgery,” Watt wrote. “At first I was frustrated. Now I embrace adversity #HuntGreatness”

Watt also broke his hand during the season, although that injury didn’t cost him any time on the field after he was outfitted with a club. That injury shouldn’t have any impact on his readiness for offseason workouts and it doesn’t look like the sports hernia will limit him either.
