We know Mike Pouncey had surgery, because he said so on the Dolphins’ in-house television show.

We just don’t know what he had surgery to fix.

According to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, Pouncey’s procedure is not believed to be one to fix the foot injury that kept him out of the final two games of the regular season and the Pro Bowl.

“It was so tough when I turned down the [invitation],” Pouncey said. “When I turned it down, none of my guys had made the Pro Bowl yet. It was a tough decision for me, but I’m glad I did it. It put me a month and a half ahead of my rehab [after] surgery. It’s been going really well. I’m glad I turned it down, so I could be ready by the time OTAs get here. I’m feeling really good.”

The Week 15 foot injury was thought to be minor, though he didn’t play again the rest of the year and skipped the all-star game. He said at the time it wouldn’t require surgery. He missed the start of the 2014 season with a hip injury that cost him a month.

Pouncey offered no details, other than to say he was “a month out of surgery.”

So either the injury turned out to be worse than he thought, or he was getting something else fixed that had been bothering him, something serious enough to skip a trip to Hawaii he really wanted to take.
