The 49ers announced a new contract for tight end Garrett Celek this week and Wednesday brought word of another deal that keeps a current member of the team in the fold a while longer.

Wednesday’s announcement concerned a three-year extension for defensive tackle Quinton Dial. The financial details of the pact were not disclosed.

Dial had a year left on the four-year contract he signed with the 49ers after they made him a fifth-round pick in 2013, so the new deal will take him through the 2019 season.

“Throughout his first three seasons in the NFL, Quinton has shown consistent development and has become a key contributor in our defense,” 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. “We have certainly seen his positive impact on the field and in our locker room, but we also recognize the impressive work he does in the community year round. We are pleased to extend the contract of young players like Quinton and are excited to see him continue his career with the 49ers.”

Dial started 15 games last season, recording 59 tackles and 2.5 sacks, and the new deal suggests he’ll remain at the top of the depth chart under the new coaching staff in 2016.
